I applied in 2007. When I go on application manager and put in the annoucement number it brings me to my old 2007 application. Do I hit "change my answers" or "add documents". Thanks

The announcement says: "applicants on the current Administrative Law Judge register who received a Notice of Results, with a final numerical rating, under ALJ announcement, number 2008ALJ-134575, which was posted on USAJOBS on July 30, 2008, are not eligible to apply to this vacancy announcement." So...if you were on the latest register and were three-striked and were not a Veteran, you are out of consideration even if new offices open up?

I think it means that you remain on the existing register, and are eligible for upcoming certs, but you cannot reapply to try to increase your score.

Those who applied and made the register in 2007 are eligible to reapply to improve their score. Those making the register following the 2008 reopening are not.

So, if I'm reading the announcement correctly then all applications will be received/eligible up until 11:59 pm EST on the day the 900th application is submitted, even if the submissions exceed 900?

Correct, so the total number of applicants may and likely will exceed 900. But you have no way of knowing when the 900 limit will be reached, so best to get your application in ASAP.

How do I substitute documents please? My old application is out there when I log in & docs are still there. I did NOT make the previous cut & now spent more than 60 minutes preparation. Also, the last blog is correct, the current 900 openings is more than last year's slots. Thanks

I'm working on my application. Good luck to everyone. Don't forget that under Occupational/Assessment Questions, under 2. A., you must list all jurisdictions in which you are currently licensed, the dates of admission to the Bar, and the Bar license numbers. Failure to do so could cause you to be very unhappy with yourself when the Notice of Results come out. Tricia

You can also scan your Bar license receipt & download a copy to Application Manager. I did this last time under "Add Documents", just as added insurance. It prevents them from saying you didn't include something. Of course, you must also list all your jurisdictions and license numbers in the appropriate box as Tricia says!!

Anyone figure this out yet? I would think "add documents" might let you keep your old answers and edit them. If you hit "Change my answers", I think you have to start again from scratch!!

I can't help but wonder how many of the 900+ applications received will be from people who are already on the register but wish to improve their score. How many *new* people will be in the lucky 450 (or so) who make in beyond the AR process? Will SSA get a refreshed or a largely recycled register?
Also, will a new score serve as a sort of "reset button" for the people who have been 3-striked? So many questions . . . only time will tell.
Good luck to all and remember not to let your egos get too wrapped up in this process!

gs:
generally being admitted to the bar in one of the states (or DC) is the prereq so I think you were admitted in 2003 for purposes of calculating the number of years you've been practicing as a lawyer.

gs,
According to the posted minimum qualifications, you must be a "licensed" attorney at the federal, state, or local level for at least seven years. I don't know whether your license to practice in tribal court is qualifying, but if I were in your position I would certainly argue that it is. After all, you were litigating in court. You should certainly get your application in, then see what happens.
Good luck to all.

I most always concur with your posting, but my reading is 7 years of experience as a licensed attorney -not seven years of experience and an active bar license. Good luck to all!
Applicants must have a full seven (7) years of experience as a licensed attorney preparing for, participating in, and/or reviewing formal hearings or trials involving litigation and/or administrative law at the Federal, State or local level.
