I just checked the USAJobs website, about 10:30 pm PST, and the ALJ announcement is no longer posted. That was quick. I hope those who wanted to apply got their apps in.

Wow. That's quick. In 2007 it started on Friday and closed the following Wednesday for 1200. In 2008 it also was open for 3 days. This time only a day?!? I guess everyone was primed and ready to go. Anyway, good luck to all!

Application Manager won't let me complete the application, so I guess the window really is closed.
Good lord, that was fast. One day!
Luckily it wasn't a high priority for me. I really feel sorry, though, for those who failed to check for a single day and got closed out. This race-to-the-mailbox system really is harsh.

I guess it was technically 1+ days since it was announced on the afternoon of the 9th and closed at 11:59PM (EST) on the 10th. However, OPM must have made sure that they opened it after teh cut-off for auto-generated notices through USAJobs' "Agent" on the 9th. Hopefully my application was counted and everything was complete.

I was sent an e-mail through my "agent" at around noon on the 10th. Was involved in something intense at work and didn't notice the e-mail until about 9pm. Tried to slap my app together by midnight but didn't make it; figured I'd finish it today. Bah!
I'm not complaining; I knew it'd be like this and I love my present job. Still disappointing though.

Is it possible that the announcement could have been removed just for today, it being a Fed Holiday, or is the process automated?

Karl:
It's closed. I saved the agent referral and clicked on it today thinking it looked like it was still open, but it was not. The system is still open for any other jobs. WOW 900+ in less than two days. Maybe some fried taters would take your mind off of it.

With lots of mustard . . . I like mustard on them taters. It was actually less than 48 hrs from he time the announcement was posted . . . talk about a sprint! Good luck to those who crossed the finish line.

Retread, you can't tell whether the application period is still open from that announcement. Although it seems to say the open period is through November 24th, 2009, the announcement also says, a little farther down the page, that the open period lasts until either November 24th at midnight or midnight of the day when 900 completed applications are received. Apparently, the 900th application was received yesterday.

"How to Apply" appears to be available. I just tried it to test it but did not continue because I am in the register and unable to reapply. I just sent the e-mail adding three more locations.

I applied yesterday. In application manager on the header where it previously said go to job posting, it now says that the posting closed on 11/10/09.

FYI on the subject of choice of geographical locations. As a person on the register, I followed the directions in the 2009 application regarding change in location preference, which was to put the magic words in the subject line during the open period (yesterday) and within a week opm will then send a location preference checklist. The automatic response was that" they" received my question and that the help desk would get back to me. The last time that happened it took 9 months for them to get back to me by telling me that my appeal was vanquished without any rationale provided. Feeling a little uneasy with that OPM response yesterday, I sent them my location change, of course, written "above the line." Since the application closed last night, I just hope that this red tape on this limited issue, is not another Kafka like example of this less than perfect selection process.

Carpe, I did get in on Tues. and sent the email with GEO in the subject line; they responded within a few hours with attached forms. You had to place an "X" in the locations where you wanted to work and ~here's the tricky part~I mistakenly clicked reply thinking my reply email would automatically send the attached "X'd" forms back..but voila..the reply did not include the attachments forms! Lucky I noticed that, so I saved the forms in Word, and re-sent the reply manually attaching the forms as Word documents. OPM is scary.

Should be interesting. Most ODAR attorneys work at home on Mondays and Tuesdays, so they may have missed the opportunity. Was this on purpose?? Inquiring minds want to know.

I would suggest that most ODAR attorney were working from home on their applications rather than decisions. It was a major advantage to them to be able to send the time on their applications while people who work in the real world were in their offices or courts doing their jobs and had only the evenings to try to put together applications.

I don't know. I see this in very simple terms. How much do you want the job? Those employed I've met who applied on 5/4/07 and after had a fire in their belly.
