On my way home from work today around 4:15 EST, I received a call to schedule an interview for another agency other than SSA. I already have an April 15th interview with SSA. Now I have a telephone interview next week with this agency. Just wanted to let everyone know that there is at least one other agency interviewing at the present time in case anyone receives such a call and that not all of our eggs have to be in one basket.

Me too. I missed the call because I had today off work and was hiking up a nearby mountain.
If someone sends me a private message with all the agencies that might hire ALJs directly off the register, I'd be happy to create a poll that will allow people to anonymously post what agencies have contacted them and their score. If anyone has any other suggestions of what you'd like asked in the poll let me know.

I'm now curious. Is it HUD or OMHA that's calling? Please share?

Private Attorney, it sounds like Medicare omha is hot on your trail! I hope it works out for you! I wish you a lucky rabbits' foot, and the others, too!

Hi, I did a preliminary interview with Medicare Miami for a GS14 supervisory attorney job about 2 years ago. They seemed like a nice bunch of folks. I was going to do a video interview with the ALJs down there, but withdrew from consideration when they told me relocation expenses would not be paid. The HOD also told me none of the attorneys/ALJs lived IN Miami; that is was tres expensive to live in one of the burbs (e.g., Coal Gables); and that everyone sent their kids to private schools..at the time, with a son in HS I felt it wasn't worth the small salary increase..the HOD was very professional and they gave me alot of time to make a decision..a good sign.. Good luck to all who interview!!

How do we know if we are on the Medicare Cert? Do we get an e-mail like with ODAR, or just wait until we get a call?

How do we know if we are on the Medicare Cert? Do we get an e-mail like with ODAR, or just wait until we get a call? Medicare Cert is usually really small (i.e. 6-9 names for 2-3 openings). From the cert poll posted this past weekend, looks like the cut-off is somewhere around 78 for the geographically available. Last year OMHA had two or three openings. They grabbed a cert with six or nine candidates on it right before the SSA interviews started and made offers to their selectees within a week or two of the telephone interviews. So I'm guessing we'll have two or three new OMHA ALJs off this Cert before the end of April. Good luck to the candidates!
