Good for you, Arlene! Given the limited locations for OMHA, and the smaller number of judges, it's going to take a good score and the right GAL to be on this list.

Actually, now that I think about it, my cities were Cleveland, Irvine and Virginia, not Florida.

I'll join Arlene25 and Lionsfan. I've been called and have set up an interview (Miami and Cleveland).

I got the e-mail and call late today. I guess I will be faxing in the material early tomorrow. I asked what cities were in play and they said Cleveland and Irvine. This is certainly an unexpected but nice development.

I never received an e-mail but I received a packet with information. I did get a call to set up an interview but because I am proficient in Spanish my interview with Medicare will be in Spanish.

Does anyone know how many positions they're looking to fill in SSA and OMHA?

A little scoop on Medicare ALJ's. It is a management position in that you have a "team" under you that manages your docket. Most of your hearings are on the phone, not face-to-face. You are not dealing with the downtrodden claimants that SSA deals with. You are dealing with well trained reps (usually), representing a medical entity and not a hysterical individual. You are dealing with issues such as billing of medical items, treatments used, type and duration of care..etc. It is more mundane and less stressful. You have to evaluate your team for performance and keep things running consistently and smoothly. There are not as many offices so once you are located, that is probably where you will stay.. With the new medical health insurance bill that just passed what the future holds is anybodies guess. They may end up being the great gate keeper and then again, maybe not. The intensity is higher in SSA than in HHS from what I have been told by insiders. The ALJ's that I know there are great guys and kind of low keyed.. and like their jobs..so..?

Does anyone know how many positions they're looking to fill in SSA and OMHA? SSA is filling around 125. OMHA far fewer, but I don't know how many.
