I just got a call from Bob Gehlken this morning, at 7:35 am Pacific Time. I was offered an ALJ position on the West Coast. I have been on several certs since 2009 but was never selected. I was unaware that there was a supplemental cert, but am posting this information to let you know that calls are going out.

Congrats from here, too. After reading your post on the "Frustrated" thread from '09, I'm glad to see you are another one whose persistence has been rewarded. And, is the city you are going to one of the ones on the original May cert?

Wow. Did those getting offers receive prior notice they were on the supp cert, and did they receive reject emails? See if we can pin those answers down so I can finally stop thinking about what might have been.

I received an offer today. To answer the questions above, I had no prior notice about being on the supplemental cert. I received a rejection e-mail a few weeks back. The city I have been offered was not on the May cert.

If they are offering cities NOT on the May cert, then I guess all that stuff about the CBA and transfers doesn't come into play. Interesting that they didn't give people time to confirm their GAL cities, if they had cities on their GALs that were not on the May cert.
This process only gets MORE confusing. Congrats, bucksfan!

Congrats to all receiving offers. Could you tell us the actual cities? Thanks

I understand the reluctance to identify your city -- ODAR can easily identify you and see what you have said. However, the information would be valuable to others. I suggest you send a private message to ALJD and let him post your city without identifying you. In my view, he has demonstrated that he can keep a confidence.
ALJD -- sorry about volunteering you without talking first.

"Congrats from here, too. After reading your post on the "Frustrated" thread from '09, I'm glad to see you are another one whose persistence has been rewarded. And, is the city you are going to one of the ones on the original May cert?" Thanks for the kind words of encouragement. The City I was selected for was not on the most recent large cert. I also received a rejection letter about 3-4 weeks ago. I did not receive any prior notice about a supplemental cert. To encourage others out there, I was told from a pretty reliable source that I had been "three-striked" after my non-selection from the May/June 2009 cert. I don't know what that means about the information, but all I can say is, please do not give up or give in like I almost did.

Portland was on the last cert. A longtime friend got the position and is tickled to death about it. Under Region 1 on the list.

There are two "Portland" ODARs. Portland Maine, in Region 1, and Portland Oregon, in Region 10.

There are two "Portland" ODARs. Portland Maine, in Region 1, and Portland Oregon, in Region 10. Yes, I was referring to Portland, Oregon. The original poster in this thread said she'd been offered a position on the West Coast. I was at a Federal Bench/Bar CLE in Seattle in July - put on by OGC - and the Region 10 RALJ mentioned in his remarks that they needed to fill an ALJ position in Portland. I now see that someone accepted a position for West LA in the supplemental cert thread in the polling forum, so, perhaps, the Portland position was filled by a transfer or by someone on the supp cert that doesn't post here.

So am I reading all these posts correctly: is the bottom line that all of these offers in Sept. '10 are people on the 2009 cert which would expire in Oct. [next month]?
Personally, I'm still waiting [on the most recently cert only] but a friend who is a fantastic person and will be a great ALJ, who was on the 2009 cert and had given up hope, got a call yesterday so I'm happier than I was when we were both rejected!
