What amazes me is how many people think their priorities are their "rights" and not their preferences.

Hey, someone on the board take the initiative and call/e-mail SSA. I did it last time and I don't want to be a pain...;-)
There are three e-mail addresses on your NOR. Some brave soul get us an update...
The suspense is killing me. That is an exaggeration, of course. But, before someone tells me to calm down, or adopt a more zen-like attitude, or just relax, let me say...the waiting sucks.

As absurd as it may sound, the consistent response by SSA is that offers will go out in early June.

Where is it published that selectees must report to their new duty stations on June 22d? Where is it published that the first class begins on July 6th? Where is it published that new judge classes cannot overlap?
Somewhere along the line, conjecture that June 22d would be the reporting date became Gospel.
Some of the complaints remind me of a scene in "Captain Blood": Dr. Blood touched the governor's bandaged foot and the governor cried out in pain. "Did I hurt you?" Dr. Blood asked. "No, but I thought you were going to," was the governor's reply.

June 22 is two weeks prior to July 6. The ALJ trainers have already been told that the first day of class is July 6. For both of the prior training classes the new ALJs were required to report to their new duty stations two weeks before training to familiarize themselves with the computer systems and other ODAR systems.

But Morg, you are right. Since no offers have gone out, there may not be a "two weeks prior" in the new office. It may just be "show up in DC on July 6" for the first class. That would certainly take alot of pressure off and maybe give folks time to househunt and deal with school districts.
Problem is, the "two weeks prior" thing is really to the benefit of non-SSA attorneys to give them a chance to get initial paperwork done, ID badges made, and also to give them an opportunity to screen a few files, sit in on a few hearings, so that the training is more meaningful.
Guess we will just have to wait and see.

But as you say, those least able to have the two weeks are those who would gain the most!

In the old days before 2008, the new judge's first day on the job was at training, not at the hearing office. ID cards, etc., were done there.

As absurd as it may sound, the consistent response by SSA is that offers will go out in early June. I am finally joining the next week bandwagon. Although it is possible some offers might be made tomorrow, I believe that phone calls are the method that will be used this time, and I believe that they won't begin in earnest until Monday. Let's set a forum record on Monday...

I, for one, can't get off the forum. The only button that seems to work on my Macbook Pro is the refresh button ...

Rest assured when offers do out, we'll probably have at least half a dozen confirmations within 30 minutes.

Today is kaput. There might be a batch tomorrow, but Monday--Tuesday at the latest looks most likely.

I predict I will get to my 200th post (and my sixth star!) before the fortunate ones hear anything! You really ought to have carrots instead of stars. ALJDisc and Pixie set this Board up with a karma quotient. They had to take it away I think over a year ago for reasons I could only surmise (pimping for karma (?)--sorta like High School)...a few of the usual suspects would "run" the Board, what fun to watch! Of course there were casualties... But I have to confess I miss the karma pluses and minuses, particularly in times like these.

They had to take it away I think over a year ago for reasons I could only surmise The problem wasn't the positive karma. It was all the anonymous smiting (which reduces the karma score) that goes on behind the scene. Certain frequent posters were getting smited by other board members who disagreed with their posts. And believe it or not, folks actually care about their karma scores. So I used to get pm complaints about "why did I lose X karma points overnight?" and "so-and-so must be the one harassing me with smites." The whole thing was suppose to be a positive tool encourage people to participate. Instead, it became a tool for some people to harass others. Since there is no way to track who exhalted or smited who, it became a negative distraction. So we pulled the plug on the experiment.

Yes, I have been monitoring the board since its inception, and well remember the Karma thing. I believe it was JH, and perhaps others, who received some of the smites because someone didn't like her posts. ALJD did the right thing in disabling that feature.

You really ought to have carrots instead of stars. ALJ, I dont' think ALJ D has it within his power to dispense carrots, so I must be satisified with stars. But keep in mind--if someone puts carrots there, I will eat them! Now, only eight more posts before I earn my extra star.... Have you ever seen a rabbit--whether from a pet store or the field--wearing six stars? It will be my solace if this other thing doesn't work out...
