Matt.6 [33] But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Matthew 10:14

My post was not intended towards Jagghagg individually. It was an overall observation. Were that true, you would not have selected the pronoun "her" for your post. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Matthew 10:14 Well said is well done.

Wow! I don't check the board that often anymore, so I guess I missed the apparent growing animosity among some of us. I'll miss JH's incite, knowledge and contributions, as well as Morg's. (Hey Morg, if you're still reading the board, your snow snakes PM was a hoot.) So, as a tribute to JH and Morg, I'll leave you with the immortal words of Dr. Demento
Remember when you ran away and I got on my knees and begged you not to leave because I'd go berserk?? Well... You left me anyhow and then the days got worse and worse and now you see I've gone completely out of my mind.. And.. They're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!! They're coming to take me away, ho-ho, hee-hee, ha-haaa To the funny farm. Where life is beautiful all the time and I'll be happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats and they're coming to take me away, ha-haaa!!!!! To the happy home, with trees and flowers and chirping birds and basket weavers who sit and smile and twiddle their thumbs and toes and they're coming to take me away, ha-haa!!!
Lighten up people.

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Matthew 10:14 Well said is well done. I'm sorry. I didn't realize that pronouns were still required to acknowledge a male-dominated society. I'll just remember my place and find a more appropriate job as a legal secretary. Been watching Madmen lately? Even if I were going after Jagghagg I think she has shown that she can more than hold her own without you riding to her rescue. Can we lose the drama and act more like attorneys and less like another drama-filled episode of Dawson's Creek? We're a bunch of attorneys trying to land a sweet job with the federal government. Nobody here is an Atticus Finch or Erin Brokovich. You need a sympathetic client for that, and as a bunch of successful attorneys, we are far from it. This kind of crap pretty much makes the administrator's case for the "ignore" function. In a world gone mad... Lawyers at a small firm find themselves in a David and Goliath battle against the hordes of attorneys representing the evil Mercedes Corporation. A diabolical scheme has been uncovered by this ragtag group of freedom fighters that cries for justice. The lawyers at the small firm thought they were getting a free car wash at the dealership with the purchase of a new E class. Little did they know that the Satanic forces of Mercedes wouldn't include interior vaccuming...

In response to Rhino, was your rejoinder to Val really necessary? Val has only responded to the constant drumbeat from a few about the evils of SSA. And I'm not saying those few are wrong or that they do not have a legitimate beef, but why all the drama? And over something as silly as an ignore function? Neither the world nor this board centers on their one-note message of distrust in all things SSA. Repeatedly, I have witnessed these few steer threads to the same old song through both implied and overt accusations. As far as I can see, this board has and will continue to provide an invaluable service to all ALJ applicants and new hires. And like several others, I really hope Jagg will take a deep breath and econsider. She has so much to offer and her sense of humor alone will be missed. Just my two cents and no, I will not give change.

I believe my rejoinder to Val was appropriate. Yes, I have watched "Mad Men" and we've come a long way, baby. But if Val had wanted to make the point she wanted to make she would have said it wasn't about anyone's individual OPM score, nor about any one candidate's selection or nonselection. She chose the feminine pronoun to make her point and to infer it was Jagghagg's purpose to promote her own candidacy in spite of the fact that there is no litigation in which she is involved that would put her in an ALJ slot.
Bah. I just noticed that even PrivateAtty left the boards. Good call, PA. No reason for me to stay either. I thought this board was about more than the hire. Hopefully PatriotsFan will leave, too.

What V and others may not appreciate is the information JH and others similarly situated may have gained from postings on WWW by those too afraid to trust their livleyhoods to government hackers who can probably ID any poster who registers. One post by someone who saw the paperwork used to pass over a vet eventually hired by as an H&HS Medicare ALJ comes to mind. A PM to that poster could give rise to discovery opportunities ad infinitum. The bottom line is that SSA got OPM to change the litigation experience qualification which opened the floodgate to the opportunites for SSA to pass over vets to reach "insiders". That and that alone is the source of the friction and animosity between "insiders" and "outsiders" manifested on WWW , this board and TOB.

I'm not sure I completely agree with your police work there - "government hackers who can probably ID any poster who registers?" Are we talking about the federal government? The federal government of the United States? The IT people in your department must be much better than those in mine.

Anybody who posted his or her selection and location can be easily identified. It doesn't take an IT wizard.

Query - (and I am not and in no way will defend thecurrent practice) Isn't some or a lot of the problem the fact that the initial "selection" or "certification" of eligibles is done through and by OPM, which itself does not have ALJs, does not hire ALJs, and has no clue what should or should not be valid "competencies" and requirements for the job?
First, SSA pays OPM tons of money to 'refreh the register" of candidates - all by OPM archaic rules, which OPM does, conducts interviews of hundreds of folks, while having to pull in outside attorneys, OPM managers and ALJs from all over DC to do the interviews, then it does its scoring magic, sends a cert to SSA, who then begins the same process all over again.
SSA plays its own city roulette as part of the next step. I wonder how many cities on this cert had 3 persons certified by OPM that have been three-struck? Is that why some cities which were listed on the latest one did not get ALJs?

Hey, kids!
This is totally off subject but at this point I'm not sure my mind can or wants to absorb any more ALJ stuff. So, I'm laughing at something my daughter said.
We were sort of watching/listening to The Brady Bunch and, at 16 and quite wise, she seems delighted by the simple nature of those times. Times she refers to as "back then." HA! Then, the comment, "Mom, you really DO look like Marcia Brady!!" Yep, I've been hearing that (well, not the "Mom" part) since the 7th grade!!
Then, she was off to rehearsal for a Bach piece and the Bruch Concerto, No. 1, in G minor, Opus 26...and I'm left looking over her travel plans for a gig in Chicago in March 2010...and her travel plans to South Korea in June...and the travel plans and venues for her orchestral gigs in the Czech Republic, Germany, and Austria in July...
There is so much more to life than an ALJ position. I work for "the agency" and I'm a 3 striker...a 3 striker with a fantastic daughter and a closet full of fabulous shoes and a great sense of humor!! Just like the rest of you...being an ALJ or not being an ALJ will not define us. I love to laugh and I enjoy peace.
News flash: Brady Bunch marathon on TV Land all week! Veg out...you might actually laugh out loud!!!!!
Thanks for the giggles and insight provided by this board. Have a groovey weekend!
Marcia Brady
