"OPM gave themselves a possible escape hatch in the Oct. 2010 wording in case the new process turned to total poo, not a mandate."
Nonamouse, what wording are you talking about? we can no longer retrieve a copy of the announcement, and I foolishly, did not make a copy of it before it closed. Was there language in there about the 10/2010 expiration of the register?

I believe Pats' Fan is correct. I received my NOR in February 2009 and it clearly says: "Eligibility Expires: October 2010."
Pats' Fan, when do you estimate you will get the results of the most recent hire, in terms of who was pitted against whom, how they fared, and who was three-striked?

On page 6 of the recent opm job announcement it states: "the current alj register is set to expire in October 2010, although opm may extend that date."

Oh, by the way: In Belichick We Trust. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, but love is unconditional. We'll see Peyton in the AFC Championship Game on our way to the Super Bowl. Belichick is never boring. Well, 4th and 3 on your side of the 50 with a 6 point lead and 2 minutes to go? ? You have to punt in that situation every single time, no exceptions. You can't give Peyton a short field. Belichick blew that no matter the outcome, which in this case was snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It really is inexcusable.

In defense of Bill, the play had worked for them in the past and it was just two yards. What he forgot was the "fourth quarter" Colts are always a much tougher team to play than the "second quarter" Colts. I wouldn't trade Peyton Manning in the fourth quarter for anyone.
And isn't PF cute when he dreams?
Colts and Saints at the Super Bowl. What a game it will be.

Oh, please--Pats fumble inside the 5 yard line and then later go on 4th and 2 at own 28 yard line. Not dreams of PF, but nightmares.
Saints versus Colts in February-- we will celebrate a great Carnival season.
Laissez les bon temps rouler! Geaux Saints!

Good catch Allrise, you get an "E" for reading comprehension this week and it will be a part of your permanent record. You may revise your resume accordingly. I'll bet OPM does continue to serially reopen the register for additions without killing the old one. That way they are not forcing the hand of those who would simply let their status ride. It means less work for them at least in the short run.

It has been over 4 decades since the Saints began; and they finally have a chance to get to the Super Bowl... i predict the Saints (previously called the "Aint's" during many of the losing seasons) will win it all....!!!!

You all will be watching a re-match of Super Bowl IX: Vikings v. Steelers; and with the same result. Harbin and Peterson will be bottled up and the old guy will be looking for the license plate of the truck. The Steelers will get #7.

I guess we saw what the Patriots were made of. The Saints went on a feeding frenzy.

Life support for the Pats.... That's a bit harsh. They are still the 3rd or 4th best team in their conference. . .

For those of us who are attempting to read the tea leaves, is there a citation or URL for the Deputy Commissioner's announcement?

Here is the answer to my own question above, which reconciles the various figures. The Deputy Commissioner's statement is available online. You can look it up at Social Security News. A total of 226 ALJs will be hired in FY 2010. The first class of the year, consisting of 43 new ALJs, was sworn in on November 20th. 226-43=183. That figure includes estimated attrition. So the good news is that these 183 ALJs will be hired in the next 10 months. The bad news is that the total represents less than 20% of the number who have just filed their applications. Good luck to all.
