To give some perspective since not everyone who got an offer posts on this Board, there were about 128 offers made.....120 accepted. 50 offers are for Region 5; they need the most help It's a bit surprising that there were that many offers, with all the transfers that apparently filled slots that existed at the time the cert was pulled, and that the openings created by those transfers couldn't all have been filled from cities already on the cert. Of course, we don't actually know the total number of openings that existed at the time the cert was requested, either. That doesn't have to equal the number hired, I suppose; they may already have decided to be conservative and let a little dust settle before they fill a few more with the supplemental cert. Congratulations, again, to everyone!

I think it is not surprising to have a significant number of offers.
Remember, Valpo will have 10 new judges - they only got 2 transfers. Mt. Pleasant, MI will have 10 new judges - they got no transfers. Cleveland was gutted by Akron transfers.
Remember too, when putting cities on the list for the Cert, they had the transfer list in front of them. They had a sense of what would and would not be opened up.

I know there were lots of offers, I didn't say otherwise. But, I'm not so sure about the "transfer list in front of them" part; if they did have a sense of what "would or would not be opened up" I'd suggest that some of the cities would never have been on the cert list at all. Without specific information about how many new hires and recent transfers are in each office that was on the cert, we will never know.

How do they work that as far as mentoring is concerned, with a whole office of new ALJs?

How do they work that as far as mentoring is concerned, with a whole office of new ALJs? According to the minutes of the July 26, 2010 Toledo Bar Association, Social Security Disability Law Committee meeting, ALJ Yvonne Stam will be acting Chief ALJ and will be holding hearings in Toledo. There is also the likelihood of visiting ALJs. Here's a thread (see link below) about the new Toledo ODAR with additional links and PDF attachments about the new office and how it will function. aljdiscussion.proboards.com/index....lay&thread=1580

Pardon me, but Cleveland was most definitely not "gutted by Akron transfers." Cleveland has had one judge transfer to Akron.
By the way, I am aware of one new hire for Toledo, and two new judges for Akron. Don't know if they are boardmembers or not.
And, while I'm at it, if anyone on the board has been selected for Cleve, feel free to give me a shout via PM.

Hard to believe the 30th is Monday-I imagine the two week initial period at the new duty stations will go by quickly. Curious if anyone has heard about arrangements for the training starting September 13th?

Five Region 9 cities were listed for new hiring. To date the Board only shows one Region 9 position filled (in Phoenix). Granted, there is an east coast bias to the Board. But has anyone heard of anyone else hired to go to Phoenix, Pasadena, Sacramento, San Jose or San Rafael? Region 9 hires were- Phoenix North- 4 San Rafael- 1 Las Vegas- 1 (OMHA transfer)

Which means the other Region 9 cities that were on the cert (Las Vegas was NOT on the cert, BTW) were either filled by transfer or still aren't filled. Phoenix North was set for 8, I know they have at least two transfers.
