Are they maybe calling the veterans first? As I said above, I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to the call order. I'm not a Veteran.

I erroneously posted this in the "Is it over" thread - Sorry!
The November 30, 2007 e-mail said you "will" be contacted to schedule an interview - not you "may" be contacted to schedule an interview, and it also says "in the next few weeks" so I do not think panic is appropriate at this point!
Additionally, it is my understanding there is a possibility of multiple hires off a single cert (if done within a certain period after the cert is issued). If this is a possibility, they may be doing interviews all at one time for convenience of interview panel members, knowing they may not get to some of those being interviewed in the initial round of 150, but may get to them in a later hire.

After posting my last comment, I thought about the possibility that new hires will probably be in different (or at least additional) locations, which would require a new cert. Does anyone know if such a circumstance would dictate another interview for those already recently interviewed?

No, once they interview you don't have to go back on a new cert, at least if it happens within a reasonable time (whatever that is).

"I'm not sure how many people are doing the calling, but I know that they have many calls to make." If it helps, I can tell you that when the interview (and offer) calls were going out a few years back there was only one person making all the calls. Despite the heavy load, she was kind and patient and kept her sense of humor. We need to try to do the same.

I just asked one of the helpful people in HR and she said that they were not making the phone calls - the job has apparently been delegated to someone else. This was not music to my ears. Jennifer. She was as helpful and pleasant as the other helpful person I spoke to in HR (Susan).

Still no call for me, but I did speak with Susan today about technical problems I experienced with typing in answers on one of the questionnaires. She was very pleasant, and assured me that I was not the only person who had problems with that form. Also, in a fit of insanity, I further limited my geographic preferences. I am not up to a 220 mile commute every day.

Just scheduled my interview, after getting the call yesterday at home. I spoke with Tony in the CALJ's office. He was very friendly and helpful.

Wait a minute and correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the letter from SSA say that if you did not hand in the questionnaire materials you would not be considered? So then how are those who have not submitted their stuff yet getting calls for interviews?

Good question. I thought they wanted to see first if anyone changed their minds about sites selected.

They may be just trying to expedite the process. Jennifer first asked me if I was still interested in being considered for an ALJ position with the SSA. I replied affirmatively and then she moved into scheduling the interview and providing the logistical information.

Question for those who've received calls. Would you be able to make the trip for the interview in one day (in and out the same day)? Or do any of you who've gotten the call for the interview require two days (in one day and out the next due to lack of ability to get there and home in a day)?
Thanks!

Hello folks, I am new to this board and, needless to say, it has been a great source of information. Anyway, I am wondering if there are still people expecting a phone call for an interview who have not received one. I am reluctant to call and bother the Fall Church people since I am sure they are very busy with this process. I am getting a little anxious since it appears some got called pretty quickly. Thanks for the feedback.

aaa-
I require two days - coming from the southwest it would be really risky to try to pull it all off in a single day. Flight delays almost caused me to miss my WD and that was flying in the day before. I had one flight canceled and arrived into DC at 12:15am on the last available flight; my luggage didn't make it. I should have arrived in DC at 7:30 the evening before. The WD, you will recall, started at 9am. I got very little sleep and ended up wearing the same suit I wore onto the plane the day before.

I have not gotten a call yet, either, and as of yesterday neither had two of my friends who are also on the register. We need a REALLY BIG yoga class here! I'm glad for all you -- anxiety loves company, or something like that.

If this is really stressing someone out, just call one of the two names listed on the materials and ask what rhyme or reason there may be to calling. In the meantime, focus on holiday shopping. It is good for the economy. ;-) Just as an FYI, the calls are being handled out of the Chief Judge's office. They aren not being handled by the Personnel Office, so, leave those nice people alone. If you're stressed (as I was -- just got the call an hour ago), go out and spend money as powerties suggests. It is very therapeutic. Also, if you are a type "A" overachiever, go back through the threads on the board and take notes about helpful suggestions for the interview (I know some of you may find it ridiculous, but it will calm others) -- at least you'll feel like you're doing something productive. Above all people, RELAX -- this is not the end all be all -- life continues. Make sure you enjoy it as it goes by.
