I have seen on this board, and heard from alot of people, that there have been many problems with the Experience Assessment: people losing their work; not being able to submit their answers, getting locked out when trying to certify, having all their answers erased after they hit submit, or only getting to submit one answer and then being closed out.
My understanding based on: the announcement, the stage 2 invite, and an email that gave information/overview about the ALJ application process is that the experience assessment is supposed to be a long questionnaire with both multiple choice questions and narrative questions. So my question is, since I know of no one as of yet who has been able to complete both multiple choice questions and all the narratives, has anyone been able to get past question one? Has anyone actually been able to complete a full questionnaire, with bot multiple choice questions and all the narratives, since that is supposed to be the format? Maybe those instances of people getting shut out after one question were just a fluke or OPM glitch. But it seems like it has happened to most everyone so far. Are all the applicants at this stage going to experience the same glitch? If so, what happens if NO ONE is able to complete the entire experience questionnaire?
Thank you for any comments. This is baffling me.

There is only 1 EA question...the multiple choice portion is the proficiency level question...

By profiency level question, you mean the SJT part? Also, if there is only one question, maybe that's why so many folk are getting a 'blank screen' after they hit the record button. ??
Thank you so much for your comment. I have high anxiety about even clicking the link bc so many problems have been reported!

Maggie, I freaked out on that section too. Want to be cautious on what I say on a public forum other than I think you're all right

No, I am not referring to the SJT part...you can click the link...its not timed...PLUS you can read the instructions which tells you everything...I don't know why people are having problems...

Future ALJ, thanks for your post. Based on past info we got on the untimed section, I expected it to be different. I agree that instructions on the actual assessment support what you stated above.

I am going to pull up my copy of the original announcement and examine it again. I may paste it here for everyone's consideration. I swear, I was told by a big organization that it would be a long questionnaire with MC Q's plus narratives, referring to part 3, EA only. of course, I trust the people who actually. Have done it when they say, 1 question only. What I don't trust is that darn OPM technology.....I've heard so many stories.....
Very grateful for this board and all the mutual guidance and moral support. Thank God for this board. And for those who input a light to the lost. Dino's te bendiga!

Yes christina...I feel like some people are saying/asking to many specifics too...in an open forum...all I can say is being able to get through the process independently with no help is part of the test. Seeing who is unable to do that is part of the weeding out process.

***Dios te bendiga - Better off w/o auto spell check, gets me every time. :-) Future ALJ, I'll examine the instructions in the link, too. Like I said....high anxiety!

If people are encountering technical difficulties, which are beyond their control and no fault of theirs, it is not fair to consider that part of the weeding out process. As long as all the parts of the system work as they should, then the process is fair to everyone. Many people on this board have already said that that is not the case.
Thanks again futurealj for your reply. If you come across a snag or glitch somewhere during this long process, I hope some one will do the same for you. Best of luck to everyone.

Hello everyone!
Just in case anyone is interested or wondering where I got the info about there being many questions on the EA from, that was from my read of the original announcement, and also prior to or during (don't remember now) the announcement, there was an email about the ALJ announcement, and it offered information about what was involved in the application process. Basically, it provided an overview of all the steps in the application process, it basically reiterated what was in the announcement itself, but in slightly more plain language. It was helpful, bc sometimes job announcements in government speak can be unclear and confusing. It simplified the steps in the process to more manageable and intelligible bites. But it obviously didn't preclude all the confusion, frustration, and upset that ensued with this new and improved (?) process. Oh well. Hang in there all. It'll all be over soon enough.

There is only 1 EA question...the multiple choice portion is the proficiency level question... I would change that to "There is only one EA question... we hope." I can't imagine how much fun it would be if there is an error on the other end that prevented everyone from bring able to complete OPM's intended EA.

Ha! I was just thinking the same thing. The title may cause much consternation.
But I think we now have some confidence in knowing, one EA question only. <everyone letting out a collective sigh>
That's why it pays to have open communication.

Was thinking the same thing - what if they had to wipe the whole thing, start over from scratch? Lovely. Just lovely.

you know I am suddenly feeling better about my rejection email. At least I am just kind of ticked off and not stressing out like crazy. If it ever gets past the appeal level and they let me in-maybe the glitches will be fixed. :-)
