All I have to say is "when you feel like giving up, remember why you held on for so long in the first place". The email is hopefully just around the corner and coming soon. As my friend funkyodar stated: "optomists unite" (and I add) because pessimism only drags you down into darkness.

When life get you down, you know what you gotta do?
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming.

Thank you for adding this topic. I already reside in California, and though I would not be adverse to landing a office in the region...ideally, I hope to escape into a cooler, and hopefully less congested part of the country. My GAL is mostly wide open....just city or two crossed off the list, where either my spouse, or I have lived, and would prefer not to return. Here hoping the list actually becomes relevant at some point.

Dream gigs for me would be Tupelo or Middlesboro. Everybody has a dream.

Actually, I would like those. LOL! And I am not being sarcastic either. I have family in KY, and the small town areas are my fav. I like those "belt" areas others do not want. Rather have those than any big city due to cost of living. I just wish there was a "choice" in there somewhere, like an opportunity to say, hey, I volunteer for such and such city. But noooooo. It is what it is.

I see we are still playing the game of optimism...Just a quick note that I haven't seen anyone else post and I figured this was as good of a thread as any to post it on. Yesterday I got an email from usajobs that indicated that my status changed. However, when I looked at my application status it had not changed. However, when I went back through my email history I noticed that I got the exact same email 8 days prior to receiving my email that I made it to round 2. So, maybe this is an indication that things will be happening soon. Strike that, we are, after all in the optimist thread, so this DOES mean that things will be happening soon! Keep up the good vibes, folks--maybe your good karma and luck will rub off on me!

Hell, I got the email and nearly started crying with excitement. I was in the car with my husband driving and he nearly wrecked. I checked my status immediately and....nothing, no changes. But at least it's something.
Nevermind I just read it again and noticed that it was only about my saved "search" for ALJ. Not a change in my application status. False alarm. I'm just brain dead with all the apprehension of the application process. Sorry to cause any ruckus.

I had to have a little snark in there, but the truth is, I would take those over California or the east coast 7 days a week and twice on Sunday. I've been to both. The areas that are being identified as the big dream spots by others here are okay, but not anything special to me. I'd take Cleveland or Michigan over the east or west coast.

Well, great Odin's raven, today wasn't the day afterall. But you know what?
When I'm stuck in a day that's gray and lonely, I just stick out my chin and grin and say THE SUN'll COME OUT TOMORROW BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR THAT TOMORROW THERE'll BE SUN! TOMORROW! TOMORROW! I LOVE YA TOMORROW! IT'S ONLY A DAY AWAY!
Then I drink copius amounts of scotch and pass out. Drives the missus nuts.

I'd take Cleveland or Michigan over the east or west coast. I'd take Cleveland, too, but not Michigan. Go Bucks!

Friday sounds good to me. Thumbs up=an excellent evening celebration and savory breakfast brunch on Saturday. Thumbs down=the luxury of nursing a Saturday morning hangover in bed and a pillow to collect any remaining tears of woe.
Optimistic thoughts... eggs benedict, hashbrowns and Orbitz on my laptop w/ a pleasant surprise to see a sudden and major discount in airfare…yummmm:)

Packing and heading to the country of my ancestors and to see Van Morrison in concert (country is for me, concert for my spouse). But can't totally relax. Will take trusty computer and obsess when necessary and respond if, big if, OPM gets moving again. But at least I'll have beer, whiskey, wine and music to occupy my mind for most of the day. Maybe even get some trekking done. Dingle (is there an ODAR office there?) here I come.
