Ok, now that we are waiting for results....is it the common belief still that references will not be checked until scores are out?? I would have thought they would be checked before they actually let you make it to the list. But my understanding of this and other threads is that you will make a register but references will be checked only if you make it on the cert. This still hold true?? Just want to warn my references in advance if possible.

With the old application filed in 2009, the references listed on the AR (the equivalent of the initial filing this time, but not quite the same) were never called until they were listed on the reference form that SSA sent after I was placed on a cert. SSA often hires a contractor to make those phone calls, and they asked a standard set of questions (listed and discussed elsewhere on this board). I don't even remember listing references this last time, but I'm confident OPM is not calling them before the register is issued.

Great! Thanks! Just want to stay on top of everything! Dibs I can see someone getting a little antcy. Of course, it never hurts to be prepared for an eventuality. Let's hope you get to use your references on the very first cert.

Thanks moopig! From your lips to the lords ears! Every time I'm in court my judges ask me when they will get called, so I wanted something a bit more finite to tell them. If they would call before the list is set, I wanted to warn them that it's impending.
