8-)When the shutdown came about during Clinton's term back in 95/96, I was in a remote site holding a week of hearings. In the middle of it, got a call to come home and cancel the rest of my hearings. Drove back to the office, dropped off my cases and went home. Had almost a nice 3 week vacation. Summoned back to work, salary reinstated, no loss of annual leave or otherwise. Much ado about nothing.

Lurker: you can call dibs on crushing your exams but nothing else. We are watching. And now that PostSeason baseball has started you need to call dibs on a team. Did I really say that? Hated sports analogies in law school.

Hated sports analogies in law school. Trekker, I can honestly say that I did not "crush" the test. I think I did well enough, but I'm sure many others did better than me. As far as baseball..,I'm much more of a college football fan! I will call dibs on Alabama winning yet another national championship! And my previous dibs of my local ODAR still holds!!!!!

With their schedule the only way they can lose is in the Championship Game for the SEC or in a bowl game.

Good luck Observer. I feel confident you will crush that sucker.
Alabama could lose to LSU. LSU looks legit this year.

I never feel like I crushed anything (and frankly would rather not think that), but I'm not wildly second guessing myself, either. I'm good with that. I can say I feel better about the WD than last time, and hope that's justified.

I don't think so as LSU lost to Georgia and it is a home game for Alabama, so it is not likely to lose to LSU at home. The home field advantage for LSU-Alabama in football is reversed, a fairly unusual phenomenon. After LSU won at home in 1969, they failed to win 15 straight home games to Alabama, going 0-14-1 to the Tide, in Tiger Stadium, beginning with the 1971 game through the loss during the 1998 season. Over that same stretch, LSU was 6-9 against Alabama in Alabama (both Birmingham and Tuscaloosa games), but that is skewed by the 1970s "Bear over Mac" streak. In fact, the more recent history is over the last 16 contests at Alabama (mainly Tuscaloosa, but some Birmingham games), LSU is 11-5.

Ace, you are after my heart with Bama knowledge like that!! I've been going to Bama games since I was a small child and I can't quote stats like that! Not to jinx the Tide, but I think we can handle our remaining schedule. The SEC championship game is hard to call, as I'm sure we will be playing a hearty Georgia team. Of course Auburn always plays a good game, regardless of their season performance. I just watch each game, each play, each call of the officials, and keep my Xanax handy!

ob53, I don't think I did as well this time as I did last time. I can't discuss details yet, but I know what I did wrong. So much for getting my "pick of the litter" re: the GAL. As devildog would put it, if I am lucky, there will be a Starbucks within striking distance.

Congrats to you and all of the (hopefully) future class of '14!
