I got reminders for both, but one came a day or two after the other. Good luck, Highlander and minny, I'm just a day behind you! (from the posts on this thread, the "SSN theory" continues to look valid. All the west coasters and other far westerners, myself included, traveling this week!)

Same situation for me. A slight stress test! Another $500 and a looming shutdown. I went ahead.

Shutdown very likely. It is liable to be a long one too. Whether there is an OPM effect is not known yet. Hopefully not for those still to test. Glad I squeezed in this week before the shutdown hits. At the SI, I had to sign a waiver because of an irregularity with the panel, when asked to sign I joked that I didn't have a choice. And the staffer said my choice would be to reschedule for another day, but that would be impossible because there wasn't any time left to reschedule. My sitch...

It's alright yarddog because I had to sign a waiver due to an irregularity, too (no private attorney on the panel, so only a two person panel). However, when I asked what are my options, I was informed I could reschedule, but they still couldn't guarantee that a three person interview panel would be available for me, even if I did reschedule or I could sign the waiver. Hence, I just signed the waiver, besides I wasn't going to waste more money on airfare and hotel for just a chance at a three person panel. LOL!

A lot of us signed that waiver and had two people SI's. It doesn't seem to hurt your chances at all. Good luck to all.

I also had to sign a waiver before my SI in mid-August because there was no private sector attorney on the panel. I signed it because I had remembered reading an older thread here about 2 vs. 3 person SI panels, and I thought I was in a better position with 3 ALJs on my panel than 2 persons, whatever their pedigree. Once again, this Board is invaluable, I wouldn't want to make it through the process without it.
Back to the original thread - it's Monday and I have received no official word from my agency except to remind me that since my position is paid out of a revolving fund and not from annual appropriations, I must continue working during any furlough/shutdown. I just won't get paid until who knows when.

I had to sign a waiver as well -- end of August. Wonder if more of us signed waivers for the SI than those who did not. Maybe they couldn't find enough private attorneys to do all the weeks.

Better than to be furloughed without pay and little likelihood of future reimbursement.

I also got the "no private attorney" waiver - I was satisified with a 3-person panel and sure didn't want to make another trip.

I only had a two person panel without the private attorney. I have never heard of a three person panel made up of only ALJs.

I would have loved a three person panel, but got stuck with a two person panel. I hope it doesn't come back to bite me in the end. As bartleby posted above about two person panels, I hope he is correct and all works out well for me.

From what I was told, private attorneys are on their own dime to participate in the SIs, so there isn't a whole lot of incentive for them to do it. MPD, the two-person panel could just as easily be an advantage for you, so just think of the glass being half full in this case. :-)

It is all part of a process that we all had to deal with in one way or another. I am just happy to be done and waiting for a NOR.

I was also told I wouldn't have a private atty, but when I went in there were still 3 members on the panel. Not sure if I had two ALJs and an OPM person, or verse visa.

In 2010, I had to sign the same waiver. I sometimes wonder if 2 person panels end up being the majority. I fully expect to sign a waiver again this week.

Yes, it was an OPM person and 2 ALJs! Thanks for refreshing my memory!
