And the comment about "fat" people....really? Yikes. Why isn't that how you judge people? I wanna to work in an ODAR in which the claimant's aren't: overweight, mentally ill, smelly (AKA malodorous), have lesions, incontinent (either version), etc., etc., etc.

8-)It's funny. If you have been someone who has worked in an office, shuffling papers, never having any contact with the proletariat, becoming an ALJ and having to deal with these people, will come as a shock. Some of them could care less that they are appearing before a "judge." Just another hurdle in their quest for benefits. We kept a spray can to spray down the hearing room after the departure of a lot of claimants. With video hearings, you will not have to put up what we did at remote hearing sites and details.

Of course, if the tone a tenor of your posts bled through to your interview, the fates may ensure you never have to make the choice. The fates, yes; and also my carefully-selected patriotic interview outfit: I take it back faq. You will fit in nicely.

Y'all do know that aljfaq is an OPM plant here for the singular purpose of getting a rise out of you, right? Classic aljfaq, well played, well played.

I wouldn't presume to tell you what to do, but I am supremely confident you will be miserable if you land a gig and will likely, through no fault of your own, spread that misery to others.
Ummm..."through no fault of your own?" His posts seem pretty "intential" and obviously inflammatory to me.
Back to curling now.

See you all look at this the wrong way. Faq might get on a cert with us and show up in his interview suit. That will just be one person you are no longer competing against poof just like that.

Back to the transfer list, yes it is being worked and offers are being made( after inquiries were made per the contract). About locations, RobG was right. I moved from the "wealth belt" of Somerset County, NJ to the Pine Belt of Hattiesburg,MS. Best move ever. Great House at great price, much lower RE taxes, no traffic, toll roads, or paying to park. Town full of friendly people, great staff at the office and a six-minute commute. Eventually, we all reach top pay. Living here allows for full contribution to TSP, prepaid college tuition for my daughters and a nice lifestyle. We don't surf everyday, but my girls learned how to last year in Costa Rica. For those who want this job, don't be afraid to move to a new place. Sure I miss the great restaurants of the Northeast, but we fly back several times a year. Btw, a positive attitude goes a long way. My glass is always half full. ( and if I drink it, I make enough to buy another) Good luck to all who applied.

The fates, yes; and also my carefully-selected patriotic interview outfit: I take it back faq. You will fit in nicely. You see, that's the problem faq, I thought you didn't want to work at SSA, but be an ALJ for another agency. Got to rethink your outfit so that you are NOT a SSA shoe-in!

The organization of his posts, along with the command of grammar, proper spelling, and geographical knowledge suggests intellectual functioning well beyond the borderline level we've come to expect from the Office of Personnel Mismanagement...

Jerseymom! SHHHHHH!
Those of us in the "Deep South" (many who read this just shuddered) realize that there are hundreds of towns here full of smart and educated people, great restaurants, fun recreation and cultural activities, and safe places to raise our children--just like you will find in any area of the country. With how we gnash our teeth and rail against stereotypes these days it is surprising how the inaccurate perceptions of the South, "Joisey", East and West Coasts, dude, and the Midwest (doncha' know!) persist.

Like a fern, or a flowering shrub, or just what kind of plant are we talking about? His posts are too cogent for him to be a vegetable.

Anyone care to identify which cities reassignment inquiries are being made to?

Anyone care to identify which cities reassignment inquiries are being made to? greener, I asked that back on 6 February, and no one posted. Either the folks that know are not looking at this board, or no one really knows what the complete list is yet. An email goes to each ALJ - some talk, some don't. It's a personal/personnel decision, but perhaps when all the dust settles we can get a more complete view of ODARs gaining or losing due to transfers.

Transfer inquiries and offers are being made to numerous cities in many regions. Agency must first find an ALJ vacancy and then have the workload and support staff to warrant filling the vacancy. Bigger regions such 4 and 5 appear to be seeing the most action. Hope this helps.

Does this not run contrary to alj's post on this thread on 2/9 that ODAR doesn't care about pending workloads or support staff situtation. They see an empty office and move to put a lawyer's behind in the empty chair therein.
