The VA gives you 10% for tinnitus. For current rating information, you can find the VASRD with almost any internet search.

I've tried to read all the 10 point vet threads I could find and didn't see an expected timeline anywhere.
I sent in my SF-15 with supporting doc today for the 10 pt vet exception to allow me to apply to be an ALJ. I received back a "receipt" E-mail.
Next will be a link with the application to fill out.
Any idea how long that takes for me to receive that link? Basic time frame, especially from any recent 10 pters would be great.
Does that part of the application include the GAL?

Does that part of the application include the GAL? My guess is that you will be progressing with the people about to apply. For 10 pt vets OPM is required to begin the testing quarterly as I understand it. There is no way they start someone less than three weeks before they were obligated to do so for the non-10pters.

For shoots and giggles, if there wasn't a massive barbarian invasion of applicants about to happen, what is generally been the timeline?
Edit: Also, while I'm sure your correct about it not mattering that I applied for the 10 pt app today, it does say quarterly, which is by May (?) for this quarter. From what I've seen in the timelines you guys have posted, it doesn't seem realistic that the soon to open application process will be testing by May if it opens April 1st... maybe I misunderstand. Maybe they can get testing started on the thousands of apps they will be getting for a few weeks in April. I dunno.
More Edit: For example, when it opened in 2013, and closed March 15th, it looks like the testing didn't start until July. So if they have to test me this quarter, I could be ahead of the bolus... maybe a huge advantage to certs early in 2017...maybe.

I would argue that the testing commences with the submission and evaluation of applications and so they will more than meet that deadline. This is not simply you hitting send on your resume.

I'm curious about the timeline in the past that other 10 pt applicants have gone through when the process is supposed to be closed. That would give me some insight.

I received my open application notification today with the "revised" application.
I'm going to finish writing the case I'm working on, then take a half day off to go focus on this.

This is my first posting. I really appreciate all the information and feedback from everybody. I received a decent NOR score, but did not get the 10 point VA spouse preference. Any suggestions?

At least in previous rounds, the vet preference points are added at the very end of the process and your NOR rating includes those points. How do you know you didn't get your vet preference points?

I have 5-pt / 10-pt issues and wanted to refresh this, hoping I don't incur the Whip-Hand. Really detailed and very helpful advice by the Pros from Dover.

Good question. They are usually just added to whatever your score was on the testing- it won't say anything about the points being added, i don't think.

Of course you can see if the DD-214 and the supporting doc for the 10-point entitlement was received by OPM.

I've mostly lurked on this board because I've been able to get the answers to my questions without a lot of trouble. Now I have one about applying as a 10-point compensable veteran, and searching "10 point veteran" really didn't help much in reducing the size of the haystack.
I took the tests and interview in DC this last January and got a notice on Jul 13 that I had not made the cut. I went ahead and sent in an appeal, but I would also like to consider taking another shot as a vet.
Can anyone give me a link to follow to get to the announcement or whatever where I can begin the process? I probably have it archived in an email somewhere, but I would appreciate any help.
Thanks in advance.

See also: www.opm.gov/services-for-agencies/administrative-law-judges/#url=10-Point-Preference-EligiblesEspecially where it says: "If you are a 10-point preference eligible and interesting [sic] in applying for the closed ALJ examination, please submit a request to take the examination and provide the required proof of veterans' preference entitlement by email to aljapplication@opm.gov."

I missed the cut on the live writing exam and considered appealing but in reading other posts...it seemed pointless. OPM wants what OPM wants....so I started over. The waiting is the worst part...so why wait for a pointless appeal? I'm now just waiting for my invite back to OPM for the logic/written/SI exams. It's a year no matter how you slice it...add 6-mos for an appeal. Hoping 2nd time is a charm.
Good luck.

I recently made the register. Because I am still active duty military, I suspended my application prior to the first cert go round. I expect I will be a 10 pt vet when I finish up in a year. Does any one know if the 10 points can be added to my current score once my DD214 is in hand?

I did a quick search: Try this link - the same is true for 10 pt -- the link is directly to a post by someone with personal experience on this issue: Any benefit to being a 5 pt veteran?
