Two thoughts:
1) if it is a sellers market (with OHMA being the seller), they don't need to offer relo or other enticements.
2) I get a little irritated by people who say they are just interviewing "for the experience." If you have no intention of taking the job, don't waste your time or OHMA's time, and for gosh sakes, free up the interview space for someone who really wants it. In this process, the agency can't have unlimited interviews. If you want a practice interview, have one of your friends moot you.

I am ready and willing to take the position in Miami if it were to be offered but if they are not offering relocation costs I would most likely not take it and would wait to see if I made the SSA certificate.
I do not see anything wrong with the folks who want to undergo the interview experience. Like Tigerlaw said he has spent considerable time and money in the process. The agency will only interview those on the cert and one of the candidates will take the job, even if it is not the first candidate who they offer the job to. Who knowss maybe someone who did not intend to take the job and interviews changes their mind and likewise someone like me gets the feeling during the interview that tehy would not be happy and then they decide to turn down the job after believing that they would take it.
I believe you should keep all options open, that is why we preach to fellow wannabes to have a wide open GAL.

I've received an email from OMHA asking if I'm interested in an ALJ position in Denver. Their previous email a few weeks ago asked if I was interested in Miami, Irvine, Arlington, and Cleveland. Now they've added Denver. That makes it look to me like they are still interested in us new people in spite of the notice sent to current ODAR ALJs.

I have Denver in my GAL also but did not receive anything from OMHA--I am hoping that it is because my score is not sufficiently high enough. They probably pulled another cert for that location. The bureacratic process for this is incredible. If northerner is correct they do not offer relocation pay when they hire so current federal employees are going to have to eat moving costs. Folks that are coming from civilian sector do not get the moving costs so it does not affect them.

Congratulations Tigerlaw on making the Denver cert for OMHA. Also, future you seem to be leaning toward not taking an OMHA job, so perhaps it will be better if you just wait for a SSA cert this time or next depending upon your deployment.

I'm surprised we've only heard of three so far. Anybody else who hasn't spoken up? Are you guys who are on the Denver cert also on the certs for Miami, Irvine, Arlington and Cleveland? Just curious.

I only listed four (4) cities on my GAL. Denver is the only one of my four that has a OMHA office.

Wayne a lot of the people are the same, except I think dpageks is actually replacing future for the Denver position because he had to remove himself from the register due to a deployment for the military. Good luck to all. As I stated earlier, I think OMHA will be looking for a mix of new ALJs from the new register with a few established ALJs transferring from other agencies over to OMHA.

I am on the Miami Cert too, but did not list the three other cities on my GAL. Denver is my second choice overall, so OMHA is now a serious decision if I don't "Tigerlaw" the interview and get an offer.
