Wow! If OMHA is hiring 16 ALJs for the Denver office, that makes our chances of receiving an offer exceedingly good. You are in, get your robe measurements in before the rush! LOL! Thanks for the encouragement but I don't like robes.

Board members have described it as adversarial proceedings. OMHA apparently, doesn't hire people with the intent that they will transfer between locations. www.hhs.gov/omha/

I'm told that OMHA will place 16 ALJs at Denver. Whether that means 16 new hires is unknown. I hate to be the bearer of bad news: A very trusted omha insider pm me asking me to advise the board that they will be hiring only 7 new aljs this fiscal. Maybe the 16 is the total for this year and next. No info was provided on when or where. Sorry.

I wonder if OMHA is slow playing their interviews so they are at the same time as ODAR, like in 2010?

The source also didn't say if their "new" aljs would be register hires or from another agency.

We know that OMHA is going to fill several new positions within the Denver office with new hires; otherwise, we wouldn't have so many people on the Denver cert.

All they said was 7 this fiscal They are in no rush to do any interviews or reference checks. The more time passes the more I feel I should just wait until I return and see what shakes out from ODAR--at least I know what I am getting into should I land a job with them.

Well, OMHA was in a big hurry to get our references and other paperwork . . .
Does OMHA send new ALJs to the same training as SSA?

No. At one time they sent their judges to the NJC for two (2) weeks. Not sure what they do now.

OMHA just sent out another cert notification for Kansas City. Anyone know if this is another new office they are planning on opening?

And now they just sent an email saying they are not going to hire anyone for the Denver office off of this cert.

Dear Administrative Law Judge candidate: I want to thank you for applying for an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) position with the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals, Denver Field Office. We have decided to forego making selections from this certificate of eligibles; however, we plan to recruit for ALJs in our remaining offices in the very near future. Thank you again for expressing an interest in an ALJ position with the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals. Sincerely, /s/ xxxxxxx Deputy Chief Administrative Law Judge

I got the email saying they were no longer hiring for the Denver office from this cert. I also got another email asking if I was interested in an ALJ job with them in Kansas City, MO. I didn't think they had an office in Kansas City. I am also wondering about the previous email that said I was on OMHA's certs for Miami, Irvine, Cleveland, and Arlington. Are they proceeding with those certs? Anybody know what's going on?
