12. The Secret Service has been placed in charge of getting out the cert. They're doing great with the Secret part, not so much with the Service.

13. Chessparent ate the cert. Darn it, Chess, we told you to stop doing that! Now is NOT the time to go Vegan!

At least it was only one of the certs. so far. I liked this and then thought "No, WAIT, if one of my cities has a cert and I'm on it, PLEASE don't eat it!" :-)

And I know Chessparent has very discerning tastes. :-)

13. Chessparent ate the cert. I thought it more likely that chessparent ate the OPM specialist compiling the certs. My only complaint in that case would be the additional time to get the certs from OPM to SSA. But I guess this is the time to store up for winter hibernation? Or did cp get a preview of the certs and not like the contents? Hmmm. Another conspiracy theory!

I figure the endangered OPM worker avoided chessparent's culinary designs when just in the nick of time that alert employee castled.

What is the current theory on the second round of certs? If there is a start date of Jan. 26, do most people think that that group will be those who have already interviewed...in light of the now late date on the second round, especially if you figure in the Intel that nothing will happen until after 10/23 and the holiday this week and the intel that there has been no response from opm to the second request.
If not by the end of Oct., then when?

If not by the end of Oct., then when? I am guessing and hoping the January class will at least include a good amount of folks who already interviewed, which includes me, but of course that depend on GAL and what cities are on the next certs (and how SSA implements 3 strikes, if applicable, because some folks who interviewed were not even "considered" yet because SSA hired only 70-ish rather than the 90 for which the certs were requested so will not have strikes). Really if SSA has about a twenty-ish person class for January, those twenty or so really could have been in the class starting now but were not because SSA cut the hiring short for the first certs. Unfortunately, it is conceivable that someone interviewed for the first round but won't be on the second set of certs because of a really limited GAL. Then SSA may top off the class with new names but really digs into the second cert of folks who haven't interviewed yet for the following class.

I just don't think that there is enough time to get a large number of folks interviewed and hired to meet a Jan. 26 start date...although there is enough time to get a large number interviewed by the end of the year and then extend offers in Jan. for Feb. and March start dates. However, to get even this done, there needs to be s one sort of movement SOON!!!

One thing to remember is that the hiring decisions for the January class could run into early January and still give people 2 or even 3 weeks notice. Is that ideal? Nope. Is it feasible? Yep. Also Bob if you're reading I will take the job with 2 weeks notice while you are still telling me where I need to be in 2 weeks.

Bob, I see Gaidin his 2 weeks notice and raise to one day's notice for any of my cities.

hey, can i get short synopsis? Why is there a rumor on a January hiring? Real possibility or hopeful speculation? i have not been following thread so I am out of date. Good day to all!!! There were reliable reports of SSA hiring a small number more from the first set of certs to start the last week of January. It is generally accepted on the Board that SSA will need to hire some more to begin in January in order to have an acceptably sized training class for the January starters in February.
