Questions on the SSA Interview 1. Who put the bomp in the bomp-she-bomp-she-bomp? 2. Where were you on the night of the 23rd between 2 and 4 AM? 3. How many roads must a man walk down, before you call him a man? 4. What is the sound of one hand clapping? 5. Why did Bodhidarma come from the West? 6. And, of course --- Where's the money Lebowski? 1. She did. 2. Nowhere. Between 2 and 4 AM was not the night of the 23rd. 3. 13. 4. The sound is: . . . . 5. Shirley, you jest! You forgot, "If a tree falls in the woods and no one is around to hear, does it make a noise?" And don't call me Shirley.

I missed the first interview call. When I posted about this several people PM'd me that they too had missed their call. ODAR called almost all of this group in the past two days. My best guess is that they finished the list and went back to this group, which would mean the interview calls are almost complete.

That was my question. Obviously I would be very overly optimistic to believe I would be on the first cert but I was not expecting a call rather than an email notification and I routinely do not answer numbers I do not know because I am in private practice. I just checked the board today and I am flipping out that maybe I would have missed the call. Any thoughts?

It isn't notice that you made the cert. That would have come via email (check spam). Only those that got the cert notification email are getting calls now. If you got such an email, make sure you answer the phone if its a 703 area code .

When I participated in the process so few years ago, if I recall correctly the prohibition about sharing the questions was for the structured interview, not the SSA interview. But due to the time lapse I could be wrong and ALJD seems to be well versed.

As the time for your interviews approach, remember these are just like any other interview for a job. The first impression you will make is when you walk into the interview room. Gents, shine those shoes, coordinate your suit/shirt/tie, and learn how to tie that tie in something other than a bow (unless it is a bowtie). Ladies, same goes for you with the shoes and coordination. Look professional and polished. Once you are seated, please sit up straight. No slouching.
When the interview starts, listen to the entire question before you offer an answer. Otherwise, you run the risk of not answering the question asked. This isn't a game show where you buzz in or lose the opportunity to answer.
Get right to the point with your response. If a yes or no suffices, that's okay. Sometimes that is all the answer one has to give. And if the interviewers want more information, let them ask the follow-up questions.
You are there to sell yourself. So take a few seconds to think about your answers. A smooth response is better received than one punctuated by "um," "and," "er" etc.
When all is concluded, you may want to thank your interviewers for meeting with you. A little courtesy can go a long way in making your interview memorable for them.

Ladies, same goes for you with the shoes and coordination. Thanks! Except my coordination sucks; I trip over my own feet! Thankfully, I'm slightly more graceful in heels...that must be what you mean.

Did we determine when the last day of interviews is? Anybody past 6/12? I was told Friday, June 13th was open but decided I wouldn't push my luck.

You're going to bowl them over with your crabbiness, regardless of the day. But I'm just as glad it's not Friday he 13th -- don't want to run the risk of it turning into a bad teen slasher flick: imagine, instead of an NR, the panel slices and dices the applicant. Of course, that would help Register competition....

So long as they don't tear my legs off and dip them in buttah, I'll feel it was a successful venture!

With it, they never have to consider you for any position.

Yes...short walk, about 2-3 blocks. Entrance to ODAR building is tricky to find.
