Funky - my authorization looks like we do get per diem - I'm only going up for the day, but I'm showing ~$55 per diem, which is about right.
It's only my second civilian trip for official travel, but I've traveled military about 100 times.

I'm in the earlier group interviewing, so that may have something to do with it?

I'm in the earlier group interviewing, so that may have something to do with it? Booked your travel, combed your hair and put on your interview suit? I like it!

I have not received anything on travel either and my interview is in the first week too. So far, only 1 outsider reports to getting the travel email? Is that right?

Miss you don't look as happy with the change in hair. It's a challenging adjustment being invited to the grown-up table.

Anybody know if insiders and other feds get a per diem for travel and interview days? And you get administrative leave since you already work for SSA.

BTW, when I booked my travel, the first agent refused to book it because I didn't have a "profile" and transferred me to some emergency number. Gee, thanks. The second agent told me that you don't get a profile if you are traveling temporarily on the G's dime.
Also, I had previously booked a hotel reservation at the Homewood Suites (really close plus they are supposed to have breakfast). They gave me a "military rate" (I told that agent I'm a vet) for $169.15, which is well below the G'ovt rate. Per diem for hotel is $224. I asked the nice travel agent if she could just needed to do anything to convert the reservation and she said that she'd make a note and as long as it is below the per diem it's no big deal.
Safe travels to all!

Have any current non-SSA/ODAR federal employees received the follow up email regarding travel/reimbursement procedures?

Yes. I am local, but I received an email on May 22d. It gave me a travel authorization number to reimburse me for parking and mileage.

Have any current non-SSA/ODAR federal employees received the follow up email regarding travel/reimbursement procedures? I got a phone call from ODAR this morning asking about my travel plans. I was told I would receive an email soon with travel authorization, but the email has not yet arrived.

I also got a call today asking about my plans. It sounded a lot like, "Hey, your airfare is really expensive . . . are you interested in driving over six hours each way? No? Well, how about Amtrak?" I wish I were kidding.

I wish I were kidding. At least they didn't suggest walking, using a horse or a skateboard. Sorry baglady for tha issues you are facing in trying to have your interview in D.C.

Thanks, MPD. I tried to offer a regional airport as an alternative, but was told they prefer an international airport. So be it.
