Does the Morgantown addition mean at least 1 spot less for the original locations?

Does the Morgantown addition mean at least 1 spot less for the original locations? No. It means a new certificate was issued based on a request from SSA. It doesn't effect the other certificates as far as number of hiring goes.

Okay, so SSA asked OPM for additional names for locations. As a result, Morgantown, WV has been added to the list.
It would seem that most of us received the email ... (presumably all those with high scores and wide open GAL's). Some had other cities that weren't listed on their first notification GAL as well (I suspect those with mid-70's scores with additional cities added because those who had responded to the GAL list struck some cities).
The language "Since the last time you were contacted, your name was referred to SSA for additional location(s)" would seem to imply SSA went back to OPM for additional names/locations. But, from the email, I can't tell if this is simply the same cert with new GAL's considered, or a supplemental cert with new candidates to be considered as well.
Has anyone heard of someone new being added to the list of those that would be considered and interviewed? ... Or is it presumed that SSA will simply position one of those who was notified the first time around - in this new slot?

Well, there had to be a new cert requested for Morgantown, which was not on the prior list. As to the other cities, weren't there already some additions of names after the first notices went out? If so, this could still be the same cert. I don't think there would be two certs out there floating around for vacancies in the same cities, so I suspect that's the case.

I am finding it more difficult than I expected to integrate the two new locations into the previous list I submitted.

I had my hometown added! Amazing! So, thanks to everyone who declined to move to my 'hood. Woo Hoo! I really didn't think that would happen...just goes to show, one person's Utopia is another person's Crapland.

May that be a good sign for the rest of us who are hoping to get close to home on a second cert!

I am finding it more difficult than I expected to integrate the two new locations into the previous list I submitted. I'm having the opposite problem - I want to stand pat, but I'm not sure how to respond to the change. I guess include the new locations on a revised sheet, unmarked and unprioritized - but that might be confusing to the recipient.

Hey Mizz, think positive, go in there and take that hometown job! Its a win for everyone including the agency which saves on moving costs and gets a happy employee from day one!

Future I believe Mizz had her ODAR interview last week and is done for now. She can add the hometown, but not think about hitting out of the park as that part is done. All she can do is rank the hometown as her number one choice.

Ace if you want to stand pat, I don't think you need to respond at all. Those locations would be considered as part of your locations without priority listing by you. Only if you didn't want to include them would you need to respond in my opinion.

Thanks for all the positive feedback! I'm actually glad that I didn't know about my hometown before the interview. I think it would have put even more pressure on me, if that's possible. But now my family is really gunning for this. They were supportive before, but now, they are really excited, like I am. But if I get the offer and it isn't home, we'll make it work. I got more locations that are an easy weekend commute from home.

Ace, just to be safe, you could just email back that you want your current rankings to remain in full force and effect, without alterations, and include a copy for easy reference. Very lawyer-like, I know.

I'm thinking it might be a good idea to resubmit both GALs if you still want to prioritize. If you want to be considered for the new location (even if it is at the bottom of your priority list) you still need to return the form (marked appropriately). The email from Bob said "You can still prioritize locations by re-submitting your original GAL along with this revised GAL." Take it at face value and resubmit the first along with the revised...just a thought...not a sermon.

The alternative is to just copy the Excel Worksheet cells into the old GAL spreadsheet and make the appropriate notation on each new city.
That way the original ranking is there plus the new city(ies).
Rename the original file as - [Old Name] Revised 6-9-2014
[That is ... assuming you are comfortable using the Copy and Paste functions in Excel.]
