If you have a story that begins with, "Yeah, I've done a little time." or includes any of the following statements: "She looked older." "I dont know how that got on my computer." "I didnt believe in 'taxes' back then." "It must just grow naturally in my back yard." "I learned her not to talk back." or ends with...."Thank God nobody knows about that!" Then you should probably be concerned. " I spent a summer during college in a terrorist training camp" "I forgot I buried that in my backyard" "I thought I burned all the tapes of that" "I told you about my 25 other speeding/reckless/ DUI tickets, how can you expect me to remember I had 26" Anytime you 'forget' to put something down on the form, it is seen as a decption. Not a show stopper, but like Ace said, subjects you to closer scrutiny.

"It must just grow naturally in my back yard." This gave me the first chuckle of the day Funk. Thanks for that.

So... what would be the impact of a candidate's name popping up as attorney of record on hundreds of federal appeals of Social Security denials?

I suppose this thread is the best place to post this.
This morning I received 2 PM from two separate sources wanting to pass on info to the masses anonymously. As I have done in the past, I will do so on their behalf and keep their confidence.
One, a well known and respected board member, reported they recently spoke to someone very involved in the process (I wont name this person either but it's someone we all would recognize). This person was told that offers will begin going out mid july. Said the new process is expected to take up to 30 days for all of them to go out due to needing to wait for acceptances. Thus, some will not get the call till mid August. (My own assumption from this is anyone not offered in July will likely be in the October class due to timing issues.)
The second source is also well known and respected on the boards. This person has passed on info in the past thru me that proved absolutely accurate in regard to the cert timing, size, etc.
This person told me today a timeline that matches the above perfectly, ie offers to begin in mid July. They also said there is currently only planned the September and October new alj training and they dont think the calendar would allow a third class this calendar year. This is because the October class wont end till mid November and there isnt a full 4 week period after that not interrupted by holidays and popular leave periods. Still, this person confirmed the plan is to hire 200 by the end of the calendar year, just likely training will be next calendar. Increasingly, this person said ocalj is pushing to hire more than the reported 200. Maybe 240 to 250. So it's likely the hiring of 200 by December wont be the last just yet.
Ok, yoos guyz put whatever faith and hope you want in those reports. Im just the messenger and offer no guarantees, though I personally feel all above is accurate.

The offer date is unfortunate. I was leaning toward early July. I agree this should mean that those getting offers first will be in the August start rather than the September. What's odd to me, though, is how they could have 110 start as a group, considering the training limitations. If they put them into two groups, either one group would be trained this year or one group would start after 1/1. Or is there an alternative I'm missing?

Thanks for the update Funk. The only part of this I think is "wrong" is that it will take 30 days to get everybody hired. I agree that if I were planning this process and wanting to make sure that I had given myself a conservative and workable time frame I would say 30 days then finish in 15 and have everybody think I was Montgomery Scott.

Gaidan, I think you must be right. "Hired" means "offer accepted" in this context.

I guess it is better funky is the mouthpiece or the fall guy depending upon how accurate the rumors. Thanks for sharing whoever asked funky to share.

I'm not at all worried about being the "fallguy" (mental note: check netflix for The Fallguy.)
As I see it, there's only two dangers in me passing along the information provided by others that wish to remain anonymous.
1 the info is wrong and people on here are upset. No biggie to me. In the end this is an anonymous internet message board. If you put too much faith in what you find on such....well thats on you.
2 the powers that be didnt want the info out. If so, sorry. It wasnt me that broke confidence and I hope my stalwart refusal to out any source or any source's source that requests anonymity (despite plenty of pm asking me who the source is) proves my firm commitment to keeping confidences. For what it's worth, as an insider I hear things all the time from folks that ask me not to say anything. Some of those are pretty outstanding, dumbfounding, very board shaking reports. But I dont post if I am.asked to keep it confidential.
If I put it on the board, its only because someone asked me to or told me they didnt care if it got out. If they request anonymity, I honor that. I give no warranties on the info. What more can I do? If that leads to me being a fallguy....I can live with that.

As I look at it, any information (other than trolling) is better than the total speculation going on in my head! Much appreciated for passing it on! I understand it can be fluid and won't hold anyone responsible for that. Don't think you'll be a fall guy, we are so hungry for info that anything based in reality (even if it may ultimately change) is appreciated.

Going back to the question about things that might affect your background clearance. One thing that will be checked is your bar history. And no, I am not talking about your beverage of choice or unpaid tab at your favorite watering hole. (Do bars even let you keep an open tab any more?). Do you have any records of disciplinary actions? Suspensions because you did not pay your dues timely? Or comply with CLE? Are there any pending disciplinary actions? A blot on your record is not good even if you are currently in good standing.
