The pace seems mind-numbingly slow. It will drive many people batty before it's done, especially acemidnight.

You're going to have to start charging me rent, moopig, for the space I'm occupying in your mind.

Certainly appears they weren't kidding when they said it could take several weeks for all offers to go out....

At this rate, I don't know how they'll make them all before the projected August 25 start date for the first class.

Maybe they have to wait till OMHA is done? Does that explain the wait? Well, they aren't waiting, since agilitymom just accepted an offer from Bob for Morgantown. So yes, this IS the week. Tigerlaw, was Cleveland on your GAL?
No Cleveland, just KC and Miami.

If you assume 1/3 membership on board. 2 Cities means 6 offers today. 90 divided by 6 is 15 days. That would be just a little slower than you would expect but with just a little faster pace they could finish on July 25. If it takes that long this process will stick!!!

Certainly appears they weren't kidding when they said it could take several weeks for all offers to go out.... Right - looks like only a handful of offers today (so far). At least in AM's case, ODAR was attentive to the candidate's ranking of cities. One would hope candidates would be jumping to accept an offer for a city at the top of the candidate's ranked list.

Wow. I need a vampire to glamor me so I can forget that offers are going out and then I will just be surprised when either Bob calls or I get the rejection email. Eric Northman, where are you when I need you?

So it sounds like we are all waiting on Tigerlaw to get done with his interview. Now, come on, it's only 3:15. I'm sure Tiger has a lot to say. Give him another few minutes.
I can't believe that SSA doesn't have several paths they can work concurrently and efficiently.

I have been trying to use my powers of telepathy on Bob so he'll call (no offense). Does he need to dial "9" to get an outside line?

If I'm not mistaken, they are expressly prohibited from proceeding any other way than one at a time due to having multiple certs rather than the single cert. They still have to follow the rule of three, and there's a decent chance that about 10-12 names made up the top three scores across all GALs before the selection process began.

The offers did not appear to start until late morning, or possibly right at noon (AM can clarify if she wishes) - so, it might be possible to get 8 to 10 done a day going forward, should they start tomorrow morning.
On the other hand, no one has fessed up (or have they?) to the Tupelo offer, so we might be looking at 3 today.

If I had an offer from OMHA in KC and got a call from SSA offering my 20th choice. I would have to call Mrs. G and really think about it. Probably not over night or anything but AM's situation is probably not the norm where she was offered her 1st choice. Once they grind through these first choices things will probably pick up speed but if you are deciding between two places then you might need a little time to figure it out. Anotherfed I think that once they are past the vet preference folks they can move around a bit but the highest NOR folks are probably 10 pt vets and moving around them would be very tricky if SSA wants to get where its going in terms of people to hire. Add to that the fact that some people can't answer their phone right away...

I'm calling in a few minutes, it's 2:30 central time. I received more forms to fill out about background and security issues and questions about my SEP accounts.

Good luck tigerlaw. They are still doing final interviews with others. Shooting for August 25 start date in KC. No offer as of yet, but the interview went well. Both the Dep. Chief and Director of Ops were real nice gentlemen and just had general questions about the whole process, lasted 20 minutes or so.

Tiger, you still leaning towards turning the gig down if offered, or have things changed now that the possibility is becoming more of a reality?
