Its been a while since I have seen a posting by the Bartleby. What could be occupying his time? Only acceptable excuse would be that he is busy running a Kitty Rescue.
Come on back Bartleby, miss reading your posts. The world, the country, the federal government and ODAR are not perfect, we need you to give us your POV on reality and what lies ahead! Not to mention the sense of humor you display from time to time.

I think Bartleby is just taking a break from the Board as he has done time to time. I think we all need to take occasional breaks from the Board. It allows you to refresh and feel better. I am going to take a break soon again myself for a good week or so, just to recharge my batteries and be set for the second cert, which I hope both you (future) and I are on my friend.

As an outsider I especially hope Bart will be back during the next interregnum in this process. I find him particularly informative and provocative when talking about the job, the Union, management, and those sorts of issues, both for his own extremely interesting contributions as well as for the conversations with other ALJs and insiders he incites. The interregna in the process are the times I can really attend to such discussions and learn.

MPD I predict we will go to FC for training together!
Gary, I could not have said it better. Sure Bart is a bit jaded but I appreicate another point of view. The ALJ job is an outstanding gig, but it is not perfect and we need to go in understanding that--this is where Bart's point of view offers great value and he might not think so but it is appreciated. We may call him out on some of the stuff he says but he should not take it personal.
So Bart, get back soon!

As someone that regularly disagrees with bartleby's takes, I completely agree that his opinions are valuable for outsiders who want to see all possible sides before jumping into the unknown. A lot of us insiders paint SSA as the greatest place to work ever, and to be perfectly honest, it is for us. But that doesn't mean that it's perfect or that it's meant for everyone.
