In all honesty target whole foods and Barnes and noble are my litmus test. I can walk to all 3 now. Doubt I could live an hour drive away. Some of us may believe that those facts support moving there.

Some of us may believe that those facts support moving there. And there is nothing wrong with that but you probably don't want to put Boston on your GAL either. The fact is there are ODAR locations in big, medium, and small cities and towns. A wide open GAL means at least at first glance you are willing to go and live in all of them for 15+ months. That is a long time in a big city or a cow pasture and you ought to make that decision with your eyes open. Which is of course the purpose of this thread.

What gaidan said. We all have different preferences. Even between my husband and I, i would absolutely love to land in DC or Los Angeles., 2 places, he would completely gag about moving to.
And I think I'd be cool with middlesboro to even if it was for several years. It might be too remote for me. And I'd be completely fine with Lexington. Whereas there are many people who would like either LA or DC Who would absolutely not wanna land in Lexington.

Different preferences from year to year. In about 10 years quiet and remote might suit me well.

Hey bac, Louisville is the dream despite Pitino and the prostitutes.
Edit: and despite that self imposed ban. Middlesboro would be just fine for me too!

There are Kentucky fans who have never forgiven Pitino for the disloyalty of taking the Louisville job.

Wherever you should land as a judge, please don't come to here and tell us what is "wrong" with our hometown. As in, "you know this town doesn't even have a Barnes and Noble." Really? I could swear that we did the week before you blew in.
We, the homies, are well aware of the shortcomings of our town. We don't need you to point out the obvious. Nor does the criticism particularly endear you to us or make us want to help you succeed. We wonder why you came and how fast can you leave? We will even offer to pack your things for you.
So until you get to know us, pregnant dog to your family, gripe to your former colleagues, cry in your pillow. But bring a positive attitude and energy to the office. I guarantee if you do, we will make your sojourn to our town a memorable one and a pleasant experience for you and your family. After you are part of the tribe, we will commiserate with you over the lack of certain stores or services that our town lacks. But until then, watch whose feelings you tread upon.
