And a Grateful Dead song. Miss, I think that's Van Morrison, unless you're referring to "Mississippi Half Step Uptown Toodeloo" : ) Lol. Thanks. I think I had a Dead bootleg covering the VanM song (of course the Dead had no issues with fans recording the concerts and passing them on to friends...). I might still have some of those cassettes. ?

I KNOW I still have a my Dead tapes!!!

They make these machines that you stick the cassette into, plug it into your computer, and it converts all your songs into digital music files - technology can be a wonderful thing sometimes. Now, if I could only find the time to sit down with my tapes and upload the songs...

I file that in the same category as I will accomplish when my husband converts all of the hockey games that he recorded on VHS...we have moved those tapes all around the country and they take up a ton more room!

I think those are the things we are suppossed to do in retirement - maybe in Tupelo (trying to get back on topic here)

Sorry you haven't upgraded your music collection. It's only been about 25 or 30 years since 8 tracks were made. I have about 2 garbage bags filled with 8 track tapes in my garage - you want 'em?

It was a wonderful system. With the hissing and the tendency to skip, each play-through was just like hearing something you'd never heard before.

And don't forget that annoying thing where they would come to the end of one of the "tracks" in the middle of a song, and the song would fade out, then the track would change, and the song would fade back in. This gave me a difficult time playing my dashboard drums.

Van has been there and then some for many of us for 50+ years--from "Gloria" to playing close to the top of his game in his recent recordings like "Celtic New Year".

It is widely known that Tupelo honey is some of the most bitter honey in the world. Scientists believe this is due to the bees' exposure to local bitterroot and toxins from the local furniture industry. Van Morrison is on record as saying that his song is an oxymoronic play on these facts. Confession. I totally made this up. I can't believe none of you called me on it. I am especially disappointed in you Gaidin. That's OK. It's your Karma, not ours.

This reminds me of a game I played with some room mates in college where we would mix elaborate fake stories in with simply unusual stories and you had to guess which was which.

Your college game sounds a lot like the job of being an SSA ALJ.

We would play "who has the craziest family?" Reality is stranger than fiction, unfortunately.
