I think as long as they "hire" by the Dec 11th date that is what matters. We are still within shot to get another round of certs/hires by then! I still have not heard anyone say they have received a confirmation of interview dates though....a few months ago the November time frame was goal for interviews, but no absolute dates by any potential interviewers yet. This will be the next key piece of evidence since we already know the transfer list is being worked. historically what is the time frame given to potential interviewers that services are requested? From talking with my HOCALJ and a few others, it appears there is not a typical time frame. It apparently varies each time but they try to give them as much notice as possible due to hearing schedules etc. I know that wasn't the answer you wanted (me either), but if I recall the last time they had about one month notice.

Is not it possible that no other interviews will be necessary for the second round? Depending upon the parameters set by ODAR, e.g., office locales, is it not possible that the next certificate could yield only names of persons who have already been interviewed? Therefore, no other interviews would be necessary.
Not so good for me because I have not been interviewed, so it is not a possibility that I hope for, but still a possibility it seems.

Surely there will be many of the same names in play and they will not interview again, but there will also be different cities too. Different cities will change up the mix a bit, so it all goes back to GAL. If someone who was in the last cert round had a narrow GAL, they may not even be on the next round of certs. And just the opposite, there will be high scorers still out there who have not interviewed because their cities were not on that last cert round. Once again, this all plays out according to GAL and score, and without knowing what cities are in play this next go round, it is hard to say.

I'm still here, just looking up at the "bench." Been winning some cases. Enjoying the life of a scrappy trial lawyer.

It is theoretically possible. It would have to be for many fewer ALJ positions than the first set of certs. In determining which locations and how many positions for those locations, they would need to take into account how many of the already interviewed candidates are available for each location. They would also need to take into account how many considerations each candidate has had if they want to be sure they won't come up short. I don't think this is likely. I think SSA will want to look at more candidates and will not want to limit its hiring to just the locations in which they could get enough candidates from the 90 or so left of those interviewed for the first set of certs.

Theoretically, it may be possible. There are only 98 names left from the original 168. They have to have three names for a city to make a hire, and there is no way that they can make a substantial hire from only 98 names unless every person has a wide open GAL and is someone thy want to hire. Then they could hire 96 folks. The likely reality is that most of the people left aren't going to have every locale, and SSA is more intent on seeing new names than seeing the same names (although some from the first cert will be hired off the second cert).

hopeful, there's even less than 98 names. We had a few folks that had to drop out for personal/professional reasons, even after the interview. I also think we have way less than 98 viable candidates because some folks who interviewed got the "do not select" sticker on their folder. They will languish on the register for quite awhile before SSA even thinks about giving them a chance.
witty - yes, anything is possible, but that is not a likely scenario at all. Relax - You still have a chance to get your interview - assuming they call your cities and your score is high enough for at least one of those cities you asked for.

If if was a skiff, we'd all be boat riding. [Sigh!] BTW, I am chillin'. Just trying to gauge the nearness/remoteness/likeliness/unlikeliness of my ALJ possibilities. Still grateful for my life - whatever.

Bravo. Definitely a fine group of new ALJs! May I suggest a masquerade ball as the setting for the next group picture?

Hilltopper - Great photo!
Looks like a group of Perps all hiding their faces as they leave the courtroom.
Obviously, ODAR has already given them the security lecture saying that Judges are vulnerable to attack by disgruntled claimants and must scrupulously guard their online identity!

Ida thought you would have opted for a photo shoot at The Pentagon City Ritz Carlton's bar vaping Cosmo and dirty Martini fumes.

Or at least some quality Thai at Thaiphoon or Neramitra, not to mention the Lebanese Taverna. Or passed out in the aisle at the Henderson Hall Wine Market (or whatever they call it now!)...
Of course, I remembered FC's location not based on the tower or the Target, but the great little Ethiopean restaurant a five minute walk down the block on George Mason, in one of those two small shopping centers on the other side of the street from FC. With Ethiopean, prepare for a spicy but fun meal! Nan rocks!
Dear Bob, please hurry up and select me so my class can get to some world-class international cuisine!
