As a guy who went through the whole process without a hitch, including the SI, I received an NOR saying that my Bar Licensure information had been re-reviewed and I was deemed ineligible. I won't go into details except to say that it is a clear error on their part, and one that I appealed with appropriate documentation immediately. I received a confirmation of the appeal, then radio silence. Two subsequent inquiries resulted in the same "We'll get to it when....".
Anyway, I am curious to know if ANYONE has had a substantive response to an appeal. Thanks.

I have a theory. I am have been applying for other fed jobs through USA jobs. Ones from the beginning of this year have been radio silence. More recent ones have seen activity. One I applied for at the beginning of the year without activity was just reposted without the usual if you applied to the prior posting, you need not apply again. Anyway, I suspect that OPM's focus is on end-of-the-fiscal-year hiring right now and you might not hear anythin of substance on the appeals for a while.

Thanks, Ms. At this point it's more an issue of principle. I'm 58 years old, have been an ALJ for 15 at state level, have maxed out on vacation and get to telework two days a week already. There wouldn't be enough time for me to earn a Federal pension of any size. I just want to at least see if I could get really lucky and land a job here at home to close out the career. The longer the wait, the easier my decision.

BTW, I believe we have also seen reports that the 10 pt vets are doing their retests (you can look for that thread for better accuracy on status) so OPM will be occupied with that aspect of the process too. Good luck!

Miss is good peeps. Good luck to the appellants! Aw shucks. I try. Many times I fail miserably but have good intentions. Have a great weekend, y'all, and try to do something to take your mind off this process. Best, Miss

Thanks, Missundaztood. Really good info about the 10 Point Vets getting retested. I missed that in another Board post. I made it to stage two, appealed, and have heard nothing. I will certainly post when/if I get a response to my appeal. Love this community. Collegiality is not dead in our profession!

I have not been on the discussion board in a long time - hello, everyone. I will share that I previously got through the whole process and was on the list FOREVER, but not selected. With the new cert, I put in my application immediately, but got a bounce-back the application was incomplete. I filed an appeal - and heard nothing. The odd factor was that I got 2 distinct explanations from OPM when / why I would get an appeal response - the first being that no action would be taken on any appeals until there were hiring offers actually made. Well, the next thing I knew, there was a class, and so I contacted OPM again, only to receive a different explanation. I remain frustrated, and don't know what other options we have...

By legend or lore, has anyone heard of an appeal being won on a basis rather than technical?

By legend or lore, has anyone heard of an appeal being won on a basis rather than technical? Yes, in previous times. With the new testing and the minimum required scores it's a new world.

I don't know if this is technical, but I do know someone (now an ALJ) who was allowed to correct his bar admission date from month and year to day, month, and year. I understand that this is a common error so if you failed to specify the exact date you were admitted to practice, there is some basis for hope.

I too have not heard anything. Strange enough I've been working off and on on a project at OPM and it is taking every fiber of my being to not search out where the ALJ apps are processed to go "inquire" about the status/timeline. Too afraid of backlash even if it really would be just asking out of curiosity and not to get a leg up....

Yeah, there's no way to mask your "inquiry" without backlash. And remember, .... Sealaw

And it is true that curiosity killed the cat, but for awhile, I was a suspect.

As time drags on and the positions are filled, of what significance would winning an appeal be?
