Just received this email...
"The Securities and Exchange Commission has an OPM certificate of eligibles dated March 17, 2014 for an ALJ position for which you applied. Please advise if you still want to be considered for the position located in Washington, DC."

No congrats for me. I'm staying where I am. But this might be good news for someone else on the register.

Interesting the certificate is dated 3/17/2014 less than a week after NORs and it's taken more than 5 months to get the email sent to you.

It's nice to have choices, even ones you don't want to follow up on. Not that I'm bitter.

Everything about this process takes way too long. I would imagine that someone who had previously accepted might have changed their mind, or that funding may have just been found. There are a million possibilities out there...but timeliness isn't probably on the list!

But still, if I were hiring ALJs at the SEC I would have wanted to move quickly enough so that I'd have a chance to beat out SSA for the creme de la register. At this point the SSA hires are off the register so I'm not even sure they could be hired off the certificate.

I thought I read somewhere that sec did move quickly, and hired 2 from a presumably small pool that wasn't mentioned much on this board.

The SEC did hire two quickly off this register. I wonder if they're replacing one of the two new hires or if they're increasing the size of their ALJ corps.

Sounds like OPM issued a cert to SEC way back in March; SEC hired a couple of people from that cert; now for whatever reason SEC wants one or more new ALJs; and so rather than doing a new cert they are re-contacting people from the existing cert. Yes?

Or are reaching farther down on the list of eligibles and are contacting people for the first time.

No congrats for me. I'm staying where I am. But this might be good news for someone else on the register. Just curious, AM: Do any of the SEC offices (all in D.C.?) match your GAL cities?

The 2nd ALJ that was supposed to go to the SEC was supposed to start in August. I don't see where they announced that ALJ's hiring. I bet the 2nd ALJ decided not to go the SEC and they are now looking further down their cert. Good luck to whoever is next on the list after AM.

I think they may be reaching further down the list. I know Arlington was on my GAL, so DC probably was too.

It seems very likely the SEC will have to get another cert for this.

Are we sure there was a second ALJ hired by the SEC earlier this year? Is it possible they are only now hiring that reported second ALJ? The first ALJ was named but I don't remember having a name for the second ALJ.

I received one as well, but I'm already in my new city and getting ready to go to DC for training. Any thoughts out there on working for the SEC as an ALJ?

I thought once you accepted an offer you were removed from the Register. Perhaps the SEC requested a cert and sat on it for a while.

From the thread's first post, it appears the certificate was dated 3/17/2014.

Nothing in my spam offering me a post at the SEC. Checking spam....now I feel dirty.
