And now for something completely new: I have the world's smartest frog living on my sliding glass door. He sits right on the glass next to the night light and picks off the flying insects as they fly into the light. I've been watching for over an hour. I really hope the second cert falls soon. Does anybody else feel like a flying insect chessparent plans to pick off?

Chessparent, I feel the same way. I'm actually looking forward to mowing the lawn this weekend so that I'm not just .... Waiting .... And waiting ... And waiting. This Board has become such an obsession that the dog growls at me whenever I pick up the iPad.

Hurry up and wait. I thought the Navy had perfected the practice, until I met the SSA.
As for my cheesy call sign's deeper meaning, well, that's PII. I'll tell y'all in FC. As for the drink of the day, give me a nice Guinness. While I'd love to borrow the neighbor's riding lawnmower this weekend, I'll instead be defending my Homeland against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that are shaped like 8.5" by 11" dead tree parts. And listening to crickets - literally.
And yes, I found out pretty quickly here that lurking is just really, really boring. Those who engage life headlong not only eliminate illogical fears of the unknown but have the most fun, sayeth the whitewater-rafting marathoning aviator.
New folks, engage the conversation and have fun doing it. Will *you* be the next great Funk?
I am really curious whether ace looks like his previous pinup girl avatar.
I can, in fact, verify that Ace does look exactly like his pinup avatar. The days he wears the full costume to work are particularly looked forward to in our office.
I, on the other hand, apparently chose an avatar that displays my inner Woody Allen/George Castanza. I wonder if I can change it to a picture of my car?

Thank goodness you are also smart and inciteful, but now you're also eye candy.

On first glance, I thought Orchid's avatar was Peeps, but, upon closer examination, saw shoes. I'm definitely not a Peeps person. They are too sickly sweet. Much more of a chocolate person. I'm half tempted to start a poll on favorite candy just to pass the time....

I can respect a preference for chocolate, though I would go milk rather than dark. But where's the Peeps love? Peeps are among the greatest ever culinary innovations. Too sweet? That's like saying you don't like a movie star for being too beautiful. Or Einstein for being too brilliant.

My friend Tom says that the waiting is the hardest part. I have to agree.

I can, in fact, verify that Ace does look exactly like his pinup avatar. The days he wears the full costume to work are particularly looked forward to in our office. This is the problem with these forums. People start to figure out who you are in real life and your illusion of anonymity is shattered. Like when a colleague asked, "Are you 'Ace Midnight' on the ALJ board?" Me: "Maybe."

I feel guilty not posting very often. This board is my sanity check through this never ending process, I just often don't get logged in to post anything. Since this post begs us outliers to post, here I am! I do make an effort to post in the polls that apply. One day, maybe I'll figure out how to make an avatar....

Proper response Ace would have been: "Board, What Board?"
As for the Peeps, if you sit them on saltines and heat them in a microwave, you get a sweet and salty thing going. To be on the safe side (Peeps explosions are nasty.) you can toast them under the broiler until they start to get gooey. You can also add hershey squares and top with another cracker for a smores type treat.
And peeps do come dipped in milk and dark chocolate at Easter.
I don't really like Peeps, but I try not to judge.

I don't know what I did, but when I first logged in a long, long time ago, I must've checked the 'remember my password', and so I am always logged in. Which could be a bad thing, since it makes it that much easier to post whatever pops into your head...
