Interviewers have been asked to participate during this time frame. A small class is expected in January, and there will continuous hiring throughout 2015. ODAR needs smart, hardworking ALJs who are policy compliant and who will issue timely decisions. For those waiting, good luck and be patient. 2015 is going to be a busy year with multiple classes.

Jerseymom, Wow. THANK YOU! This information is of exceptional intelligence value to the Board. Thanks to you, we have dates certain, numbers for January, and the overall plan for FY15, so we who are waiting for the call can once again reset our expectations. And all in two posts. No better way to start a Sunday...
although Gaidin may possibly suffer an MI with the unexpected glee that comes when he considers the many ways he can sort, splice, and arrange this data.
Thanks again very much, Jerseymom, for remembering us future newbies, as we continue our marathons. Please keep the good news coming, and invite your colleagues to do the same! Have a great weekend, C

Presumably this means emails tomorrow. Will a high scorer with a wide open GAL please put the list of cities on the forum or message it to me? I will start putting polls together as soon as I can.

Are we azzuming that this will be a large cert resulting in 2-3 classes? Or a small cert for the small January class? I guess we'll find out soon enough. E-mails will most certainly come out this week.

E-mails will most certainly come out this week. My guess is a set of certs similar to the last ones with several hires throughout the year. The reason I say this is that there are 8 days set aside for interviews and that is what they did the last time. So I would think they will interview about the same number. Plus, there are still folks from the last certs who do not need interviews too.

I figure the total cert size will be about 240 - 250. But ~80 of those folks were interviewed first time around.

I'm not doubting anyone's veracity - we've seen credible reports of November interviews for months. Last week, anonymous sources told ALJD about confirmed November interview panels and now we have jerseymom stating this unequivocally.
But, I would be remiss in my duties as one of the board skeptics (less polite, but perhaps not inaccurate language might extend to calling me a cynic) - but I honestly cannot see how this is even remotely possible. The panel members could make travel arrangements, and perhaps started last week - of that I have no doubt. But November the 12th is literally 9 days from now and the people being interviewed have no idea right now (perhaps too strong - they have no idea how to plan for it yet.)
Last time we had 7 days to return the GAL and other paperwork. With next Tuesday being Veteran's Day - stay with me - they would get document returns, perhaps as late as COB Monday November 10th, and then have the first panels on the next business day at ODAR, November 12th?
This will mark the fastest turnaround we've seen in this process to date - by several orders of magnitude. Now, I'm relatively stress-free because I only need the email and have to return my GAL (at least - I assume that's all they need from leftover first certers), and my only stress is that I find out now if I'm 3-struck or not.
If notification emails go out today, I'll feel that I will have to stand somewhat corrected, but this is squeezing interviews between Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving - something I thought was possible a week ago, but less and less so as we've moved along.
Let's hope my skepticism (cynicism?) is misplaced.

They can roll out interview slots the same way and not all today. Yeah 9 days is short but there is another week of interviews too. It can be done. Tight but I am optimistic. Some of the folks will have paperwork ready to send back the same day.

Re AceMidnight's comment . . .
SSA can move in lightening quick speed. Long story short, when I applied, my testing and process was delayed due to a health issue. SSA contacted me one day to interview, gave me maybe a week or two at most to come to DC for my interview. When asked if there were other dates available, I was told no. If you're not able to work with their schedule, there are hundreds of other people who will. I already had preexisting travel plans for the interview date - fortunately, they were stateside, and I was able to catch a flight for the interview and return back to my vacation.
Incidentally, supplemental training is taking place Nov. 17 -21 in Falls Church, so they'll have trainers there already who could interview prospectives.

Good intel grassgreener - makes perfect sense, as long as the instructors are not tied to the classroom all day.

Well, in onesies and twosies, I have no doubt it can work like this. Perhaps it can with larger batches - my larger point is that it hasn't been apparent that anything about this process can move with any sort of steady pace, much less rapidity. The sole exception was getting the interviews scheduled following the cert emails - but, that took 1 month, exactly. I'm not saying it has to take that long, but 1 week turnaround seems impossibly fast. Think about what this is suggesting - that emails on, perhaps the 3rd, 4th, 5th of November (certainly can't be on October 31st or November 1st, now, can they?) and the ENTIRE process from email to end of ~150 to 200 interviews in 16 to 18 days? From cert emails to completion of ODAR interviews took ~45 days last time, for comparison. It took them 6 weeks to get 70 offers accepted, for further comparison. Heck, I'm not going to be the sole negative voice in the wilderness and buck the tide = Go Fever! Today is the day! Let's do this! That is an interesting development. I'm not sure how they would run that, logistically, but it is certainly interesting.

ace, I get your point and welcome your skepticism, but they've arranged travel/training for writers on less than three days notice. Training numbers are smaller and more manageable for sure since you're dealing with employees, but travel and accommodations can be done on a quick turnaround.

maybe they are only going to pull a few cities this time. so they wouldnt need to interview that many; and the 8 days gives a little more flexibility to work with applicants' schedules?

And I guess I should stand down - this is all academic until emails hit - whether that is in 10 minutes or 10 days...
