I just want to say that I hope some of you hit the Trifecta today with the apparent supplemental certs. Good luck to you all. I am reasonably certain that after my joyous trip to DC I will be joining you awaiting another round of hiring. I fully expect the same as Gaidin for myself -- I'll interview but December will probably come and go without that magic call from Bob about any of the 9 cities on my cert list. Love the name Trifecta! This is very possible for me too since I only have 5 cities. So I reserve the right to reenter the Trifecta! LOL!

Okay, people, buck up! Knock it off with the negativity. From the Pollyanna School of Thought: we will all have fabulous interviews, we'll receive delightful calls from Bob in a few weeks, we'll land in terrific ODAR a offices, and we'll all meet up in Falls Church in February where we'll test Baglady's recipes. Power of positive thought, guys!

I don't know if this is useful info or if it's been posted elsewhere, but our regional newsletter listed three ALJ training sessions for 2015. Meanwhile, sure would be nice if OPM finally sifts through some of those appeals so I can stop checking this board weekly. It's possible I missed it. Are there specific training dates given? If so, could you share them?

What is the most likely explanation for person making the first cert with a good score (upper 70s) but did not receive an offer last time and has not gotten an email this time? The lack of transparency is so frustrating. If the interview was crap, or a reference was bad or a three stoke has happened, why can't they just tell us?
Thanks for letting me vent.

It has been posted that sometimes Bob has told people they were 3 struck. It was also posted by an ALJ that at the end of his interview here asked how he did. The answer was to the effect that he hasn't bombed the interview but they had no idea about references and background check. I wish I had read that before I interviews because I would have seriously considered asking too. I always feel bad about interviews do I do not have the correct gauge. It would have been nice to eliminate one thing off the list of unknowns. Finally, I believe under the law if it was based on your credit or background check, they need to let you know that. Of course, that doesn't mean they do... It is frustrating.

Don't know if I want to ask the interviewers on how I performed. Could be very uncomfortable for the panel. Sure, if you did great, they may or may not want to respond. If you bombed, they may feel very uncomfortable telling you to forget about being selected. Kinda like asking a judge, who said he/she will take the matter under advisement, how they will rule.
Sure, I would like to know, but I don't want to make them feel awkward. Would hate to turn a great interview into a so so by putting them on the spot. Just my 2 cents.

Does your GAL include any of the second cert cities?

Just found the list of cities. Thanks! None of mine are on there. Do you think that is random or are they doing cities not listed on GAL by first cert applicants? Or something else?

Just found the list of cities. Thanks! None of mine are on there. Do you think that is random or are they doing cities not listed on GAL by first cert applicants? Or something else? ODAR never gets an applicant's list of cities on their GAL as such, so there is no way that ODAR could or would try to target cities to exclude first cert applicants. The only information that ODAR gets the list of names that OPM sends them when a certificate (cert) is requested for a specific city. Of course there's multiple cities and a list for each, and the same individuals may appear on several of the city-certs, so then ODAR knows that these cities are in the applicant's GAL, and as more cities are requested, ODAR may get more and more information and a bigger picture. But, to my knowledge, ODAR never sees a list of all the names on the Register as such and ODAR never gets a list of the complete GAL for any applicant, except to the extent that, by chance, the certificates pulled end up covering somebody's entire GAL. As for me, none of the cities in my very narrow GAL have come up, so at this point, OPM knows that I am on the Register and knows my GAL, but ODAR doesn't know that I even exist yet. They're not excluding me, they just have not told OPM they want to fill a slot in the cities I've said I can work in.

I happen to be in the same boat. Maybe 2015 will see some new cities on a cert.
