Hello all. For those of you that stayed over the night before your interview, what did you do with your luggage during the interview? Presumably you had to check out of the hotel beforehand. Did you take if with you? If so, did you then lug it all around for the interview? Would the hotel hold it? Thanks for any info. I always try to find the most trivial thing to stress about.

Every hotel will hold it for you. All the trips I have made to DC for ODAR training I had the hotel hold my luggage until after class.

Wondering the same thing. I'd like not to go back to my hotel and bring bag to interview. Thoughts?

I will tell you that if you take your bag to ODAR you will have to carry it into the interview. I don't think the interviewers care one bit they know you're traveling but you can't leave it in the lobby during interview or at least my group couldn't.

I asked the person who sent me interview info that question. She said no problem bringing bag to ODAR. I didn't want to have to go back to hotel for it. And, she said I wouldn't have to take it into interview either.

Some people carry a lot of baggage. Recommendation: Do not bring your baggage into the interview room.

Some people carry a lot of baggage. Recommendation: Do not bring your baggage into the interview room. Most of those interviewing are coming for one night maximum, so how much luggage can you have for an overnight? If you have that much luggage you need to learn how to pack better.

The baggage is in their heads, not hands. You'd be surprised how much baggage some people are carrying!

Too early for me on a Sunday to catch the pun...LOL! I get it now, but believe me I have seen people, like my spouse pack three suitcases for a three day trip. Of course that no longer happens, since I have taught her how to pack.

I haven't interviewed yet. What she said was that it could be held in the office while I interviewed.

I know you haven't interviewed yet observer53, but I was wondering what she said. Based upon Gaidin's post it looks like you are stuck taking it in with you. Not a problem for me as I am going in and out the same day. I truly hope ODAR gives you an option for your luggage.

Having been through the process before, I think she literally meant that I don't have to drag it around the building to where I interview. I am assuming that I can ask for it to be held somewhere in the office -if that turns out not to be possible I'll take it with me but you don't necessarily interview right where you check-in.

One of the of the other candidates interviewing when I was asked where he could leave his bag (a brief case) and was told to take it with him. The answer might have been different with a piece of luggage???
We were taken to the 16th floor and waited in a lobby until the interviewers came to get us. Everyone was incredibly polite and professional including the guards.

Forget the baggage. Just go to the interview in your rumpled raincoat and suit and tell them you are up for the lead in the remake of "Columbo" and the audition is right after the interview.

Don't stress about the luggage. They understand that some people have to travel to the interview. Take it in with you, and leave it by the door. Have your interview. Take luggage with you on the way out. No sweat. You'll be fine.

Take luggage with you on the way out. No sweat. You'll be fine. Unless . . . . you finish your interview, relievedly take your leave, stumble halfway out of the building headed for the nearest bar but then, realizing you forgot your bag, you sneak back into the room to retrieve it during the next candidate's interview.
