In an effort to remain optimistic, does anyone know what the time frame is for federal employees who get hired and have to relocate to have their relocation expenses reimbursed? If I am one of the lucky ones, I would head out without the family until the end of the school year and then sell the house and have family come out. Which move is reimbursed? How does that work?
And for those of you interested in equations:
MG3 + 408 =. Big Ten Champs and Heisman

If you split your move into two phases, they will estimate the whole job, the small first job, and, if the second move happens, you pay any added cost for the split. It was a reasonable amount for the benefit of keeping the kids in school, taking a trial period in the new city, and giving yourself a chance to consider any transfer options that arise in the meantime.

There was a huge discussion of relo benefits back in the summer. It had lots of links and several tips. I would highly recommend you look through it.
