With interviews until at least December 5 and a report date of January 26th, does anyone care to offer an educated (or totally uneducated) guess as to when we may start receiving those long-awaited calls inviting us to join the ranks? Given the compressed time frame, I would think that the calls would have to come before Christmas.
Let the WAG-ing begin.

You scared the begeesus out of me outsider!
WTF! Let everyone interview - enjoy Turkey - interview some more.
No idea. I can't imagine when. I am experiencing poll fatigue to gear up for turkey fatigue next week.

I am experiencing poll fatigue to gear up for turkey fatigue next week. I promise I will not even approach this poll until the last person interviews. There is no way to even guess until interviewing is done.

Let us assume the last interview will be Friday, December 5th (could be, could be not - who's to say?) - then, based on last time, interviews ran through, what, June 13th? (I'll defer to anyone's memory who says later) - and offers started mid-July and ran until early August.
That would suggest that offers could start as late as January 5th. That would be 3 weeks from the start date of January 26th. Possible. More likely, they are ready to go and move more quickly this time (the reduction to 24 hours is a big sign of this) - so, last interview on December 5th, I predict offers as quickly as December 8th (maybe Wednesday the 10th) and running for 2 weeks - although that would go right up until Christmas.
I would be very concerned if I were them trying to start offers on January 5th and getting the class filled in time to have a reporting date of January 26th and a training date of February 16th - and they can't start much later than December 8th or 10th and still get them all out before Christmas - this has been a real time crunch.
We'll know soon enough, I guess - January 26th is merely 10 weeks from yesterday.

I do promise to accept the offer on the spot and with no delay if it is made. Therefore, I will help speed the process along if it comes to me.

I do promise to accept the offer on the spot and with no delay if it is made. Therefore, I will help speed the process along if it comes to me. I've long said I will answer any 703 call with, "Yes, I accept. Now where am I going, Bob?" I wonder if it's verboten for ODAR to start hires before completion of the interviews. I am 99% sure it won't happen, but if they like someone, they are in the top three for a specific locale, and the other two members of the top three have interviewed, why couldn't they start with that city and hire the chosen one? Maybe there's a Reg I'm not aware of. The big downside is that they may miss being able to reach for one of the December interviewees, but then again, they can use the third cert to pick them up late next spring.

It may just mean that your turn will come later. It depends on so many variables, the biggest being whether ODAR wants you. Because of the way the process works, they may not be able to get to you this time to extend an offer. If they don't want you, AND you got "bona fide consideration" for three vacancies and were not hired, you would be "three struck". Or, you could have one, or two, strikes. If you don't get bona fide consideration (move into the top three) for any slot, there are no strikes, and you wait for the next set of certs.

Ultimately, no offer, no job. But you surely mean something more than just that, so I will take a stab at it. If no offer when others are getting offers, it could mean that you were 3 struck, or simply that you will be offered a position later. This is yet another agonizing wait and many on this board can tell you (and have at length in other posts) that there is no way to know what is happening with the deafening silence of no offer.

With respect to ace's timeline, let's not forget that Puzzle Palace was flummoxed with the new cert requirements imposed by OPM--and I would warrant that there were folks they really wanted and were willing to accomodate as to GAL. To this academic observer I wonder if they really have the hang of hiring now and if they are going to roll out the red carpet again or just go back to the take it or leave it mode with respect to the city they want you to take.
All in all, to hire the number of Judges they want to, Puzzle Palace has got to step up their offense and decrease their huddle time. Which of course is a double edged sword for the wannabes...

Wonder if they call people with wide open GALs first because they may be more likely ready to accept on the spot. I'm just hoping for purely selfish reasons!

If I ever get called for an interview (feeling VERY lonely right now haha) and fortunate enough to get an offer they should call me first - only one city and I won't even hesitate (or need to hear the entire question)!
