If I ever get called for an interview (feeling VERY lonely right now haha) and fortunate enough to get an offer they should call me first - only one city and I won't even hesitate (or need to hear the entire question)! We can be lonely together. I am so glad you posted that! I don't feel lonely now - I'm in good company!

I'm still waiting for my interview call, too. Glad to see that I am not alone in my wait.
Planning on a December in Washington! Maybe I can see the White House Christmas Tree.

And not getting an offer means ......what exactly ?
Ultimately, no offer, no job. But you surely mean something more than just that, so I will take a stab at it. If no offer when others are getting offers, it could mean that you were 3 struck, or simply that you will be offered a position later. This is yet another agonizing wait and many on this board can tell you (and have at length in other posts) that there is no way to know what is happening with the deafening silence of no offer. So...my posts are lengthy. Lol.

With respect to ace's timeline, let's not forget that Puzzle Palace was flummoxed with the new cert requirements imposed by OPM--and I would warrant that there were folks they really wanted and were willing to accomodate as to GAL. To this academic observer I wonder if they really have the hang of hiring now and if they are going to roll out the red carpet again or just go back to the take it or leave it mode with respect to the city they want you to take. All in all, to hire the number of Judges they want to, Puzzle Palace has got to step up their offense and decrease their huddle time. Which of course is a double edged sword for the wannabes... I believe that there were some lessons learned. We got notice with the certs that we will only have 24 hours to consider offers (compared to the 48 hours last round). IMHO that is a big improvement.

Dear Santa, I would like an offer from SSA for Christmas. All my friends from the board would like an offer too. And just in case offers are after Christmas, Funky suggested I may need a waterproof phone. Thank you, Sratty.

That will literally halve the time. Also there are no competing OHMA offers this time around. I think they will stick with the preference system as much as possible as giving people their top picks will lessen the likelihood of folks needing time to think. It will also cut down on disruption down the road when people start transferring once or twice to get to where they really want to be.

Thanks! Long time lurker, new poster. Small GAL and western part of the country.
Wonder if the time zones are playing a role in the calls: 9-11am EST is 6-8am PST (Too early to call). 9am PST (Good time to call) is noon (Lunch time) EST. 2pm PST is 5pm EST (Time to go home! On the East Coast.)
Or, perhaps the calls could be by SS# beginning with eastern issued #s getting calls first.
Just thinking... two weeks and counting...

It will also cut down on disruption down the road when people start transferring once or twice to get to where they really want to be. I agree on all counts. The preference system is also "budget friendly" as insiders and other federal employees who get appointed to their home or a local office will not receive relocation assistance, in addition to reducing disruptions down the line. It will also be a benefit to outsiders if they can be appointed in a place near home for family and relocation (out of their own pocket) purposes.

Thanks Observer ! ....but do you ever know if it's strike 1 or if they just haven't reached you yet ? You don't know for sure. If you have a high score, and particularly if you are on the cert for a lot of cities, better odds that they got to you and passed you over. If your score is not so high, you really can't tell. You will just have to wait and see.

Thanks Observer ! ....but do you ever know if it's strike 1 or if they just haven't reached you yet ? Nope. And that is the frustrating part. Limbo. If another set of certs comes out with cities on your GAL and you don't receive a new email inviting you to participate it could very well mean you were 3 struck.

News from a highly placed source at ODAR. Offers are between 6 to 8 weeks away. Early January is very likely for offers. Remember they could just do a small January class and then extend offers for a later training. That is all.

That's how many of us found that out under the old register. I think it's a bit early for SSA to give OPM that instruction, as they did in 2/2012, but after a few more rounds, who knows.

Moopigsdad thank you for passing along the intel...I was really hoping to have this done before Christmas - I did not want to carry this baggage through another holiday...

No problem, it was intel I gathered while in DC for my interview. I just thought it would be nice to share. I would think my source has a good feel for when the hiring would happen.

That's nice. So we can all have a nice, stress-free holiday without worrying about will-I-or-won't-I get an offer, wrapping up practices, relocating, etc. How thoughtful...

I wish the holiday could be stress free for me. But I work in a small firm (there are just two of us) and a January offer would leave my employer with little time to find a replacement, should I be offered the Golden Ticket. With a busy litigation schedule, two or three weeks is just not enough time to hire someone and get them up to speed on my cases. My practice is in multiple jurisdictions and while some courts would likely be accommodating with deadlines, others would not. I was hoping to avoid the issue with December offers. Well, I can't say that I am really surprised that the process will take longer than expected.
