I had high hopes I would get to wear my "lucky" suit to my interview. Unfortunately, it is now my "lucky skinny" suit and I went with a suit that hopefully will now be my "lucky fluffy" suit. My linkedin was visited by a person requesting to be anonymous yesterday. No reference calls yet. But contractors take holidays too. All of this lack of activity by federal contractors doing reference checks gives me more and more confidence that the January class will be small (25 or less) and likely made up of mainly first certers now on the second cert and some high scoring second certers. The rest of us will be waiting for the second hiring from the second cert sometime likely in February or March of 2015. It is likely to be a larger hire of approximately 40 to 50 candidates. Just my opinion, no inside information as of yet to confirm.

I had all references checked pre Thanksgiving along with linked in. No credit checks as far as I know.

Wow, Gary, it must be hit or miss then with them, much like the scheduling of interviews. Evidently, I must have been assigned to the sloth federal contractors who are too busy eating leaves and sleeping rather than completing their job.

I have one city on these certs, am interviewing tomorrow, and emailed my documents to them the Sunday night before the Monday deadline. If you can discern a pattern in how they are doing reference checks based on that I'd love to hear it. Otherwise the which-cotractor-did-you-draw theory seems the most viable.

I am with you Gary, there is no rhyme or reason in the process. As to your interview tomorrow, good luck my friend. I hope you do well and hit a "home run". Safe travels!

My interview was Nov. 20. Counting my former employer, at least 6 of my 10 have been contacted; at least 5 have been interviewed. I expect the 6th to call them back today. I don't know if the others haven't been contacted by the reference checkers or just haven't let me know about it.

I'm in the same boat as Skippy, interview on the 17th and no references contacted yet. Just wish they'd get moving, so I know the shark hasn't died.

I interviewed on November 17. I know that 5 references have spoken to the vendor since yesterday. Pretty sure I received notice of a credit check a week or two ago.

I interviewed in mid-November. There was an inquiry about one of my application documents last week. So far, no reference checks. I feel better knowing I'm not alone.

A 7th reference tells me she got calls late Sunday and Monday, and talked to the reference checker today around noon.

Hi, all. Since I broke the ice with a nitpicking post on another thread, I figured I should just take the plunge and keep posting!! First, let me say how much comfort this board has brought me over the last couple of years. My judicial references, my professional references, my adversarial references, and my supervisors have all been contacted--some yesterday and today, others last week. I do NOT have a great score, so an quick hire is not on my horizon. It's gotta just be random.

Anyone have anymore reports of background or credit checks since Thanksgiving? None of my references were called until today, when I received reports that 3 references and my current supervisor were contacted. (Interestingly, the 3 references were from the 3 different categories - judicial, adversary, professional.)

Still only one reference called so far Moopigsdad, I bet by the end of the week you will have learned that all or most of your references have been contacted, your social media has been checked, and your supervisors called. And then you will be that much closer to being Judge MPD. (Hey, it is what I keep telling myself. It works for about 5 minutes, and then I go back to obsessing.)

Okay, it's 5 AM and I woke up an hour ago feeling pretty down about this whole process for the first time. I had my interview two weeks ago, which I thought went well. My application docs have been checked. On Monday, a few references emailed to find out why they haven't been called yet. All I could say was, maybe they're not interested in me, who knows? It's all a big mystery. By now, everyone except me seems to have had at least some of their references checked
I started the application in March 2013 knowing and expecting nothing. Now I have invested a lot of time, energy, money and thought. I wasn't expecting to get hired on the first cert (not a vet, score is at the mean, small GAL) so I wasn't paying a lot of attention to what happened last summer. I was surprised and excited a month ago when I got the phone call.
It looks to me at this point as though my application has gone south. I wish I could find out. I can live with it if I am not what they want, but if there was a mistake made somewhere, I might be able to fix it.
This is a terribly frustrating process. I know nothing about how any of it works except for what I read on this board. Do they not check references if they've decided not to hire you? Should I be calling someone at SSA at this point? Or assuming that my application has tanked and simply move on?
I would appreciate any insight or information. This board is great and I thank everyone for what I've learned from all of you.
