Please post here if you have reliable intel about cities on the second or supp certs for which no hiring is to be done. There are bits and pieces of info scattered among the recent posts, but it would be helpful to try and gather it all in one thread. Please consider posting only reliable intel, and not hijacking this thread until we give it time to collect a fair number of informative posts. Thanks!

Do you mean just in the first group of hires the committee will apparently select within the next three weeks? I expect there will be one or more subsequent groups hired from the second set of certs.

McAlester Salt Lake City
*based on other posts and the assumption that sandi is referencing the first wave of hires.

All second cert--first "wave" or subsequent waves, if the intel is that specific and reliable. My understanding (e.g. Cali) is that the no-hiring decision applies to all second cert (the intel was that SSA "jumped the gun" on getting Cali certs), but this is the place to clarify that if my understanding is incorrect.

I am willing to bet you are absolutely correct sandiferhands on the Cali cities. Wish there was a "do not like" button. Anyone confirm if hiring committee is meeting this week?

No, the hiring committee is not meeting until next week according to my sources.

Indianapolis. Edit: no hires at all. Is that the only city you have? If so, I'm so sorry!

This is deja vu for me. Earlier this year I interviewed for an OMHA position, only to be told that there wasn't actually a position available. Now I land on an ODAR cert with four cities--L.A., Pasadena, Norwalk, and SLC--and it seems that all of them are phantom positions, as well.
If that's true, my only problem with the situation is that I declined all the California cities based on ODAR's statement that if I'm selected I must report for work in January 2015. I have my reasons for restricting my geographic availability at the present time. But in six months, or two years, or however long this register lasts, my personal circumstances could change such that I'd be open to a move again.
ODAR says: "If you decline a location(s), OPM will remove your name from futher consdideration for that location(s). You will not be able to reinstate a location for which you have been removed until the next ALJ vacancy announcement open period." I don't think this should happen when the locations declined weren't actually in play.

Indianapolis. Edit: no hires at all. Is that the only city you have? If so, I'm so sorry! You are so kind, ok! I am very lucky. I have all the cities on my GAL, 29, not counting Indy. I declined one. I would have liked Indy, more than others on my list. Makes me feel a bit greedy...But I am glad to know it is out of play now instead of waiting to see how things tuned out.

If what's been posted here about cities on this cert that will NOT be hired for is correct, I'm out of this round altogether.

Cinder, if you even THINK you might be available in the the spring for a move, then get yourself back on the interview list and get yourself an interview with everyone else after the holidays. It can't hurt any worse than the position you are potentially in (envision shot in the foot here).

I did reach out to Bob and the upshot is that I got the California cities restored to my GAL. Also, my references were contacted last night and today. I'm not sure there's a cause and effect there, but maybe so. I still haven't been called to schedule an interview. But the fact that my references are being called suggests that they may be hiring in at least one of the cities on my GAL--L.A., Pasadena, Norwalk, and SLC. We'll see.

There are still a few of us who haven't been called for interviews and our references have been called after the first round of interviews were done for this set of certs so definitely take it as a good sign! :-)
