This is the updated list of cities and number of times that they have ever appeared on a certificate for the last 7 years, updated to include the November 2014 cert cities, including additions to the November 2014 list that occurred. This is not the number of hires - just the number of times that city showed up on a certificate.  Good for planning purposes, for those who think that way.

Can anyone speculate on why Orland Park has been on the list 8 times? It seems really strange to me that a town within 30 miles of Chicago has been on the list so many times. Orland Park does not seem to fit with the other cities on the list.

Orland Park has taken transfers, but I can't specifically recall a direct hire of a new judge in that timeframe. The first time I saw someone pull this list of cities that have appeared on Certs, I cringed a little bit, because under the old register system, far far more cities appeared than where ever hired for. That changed somewhat under the first cert of this register, but we will have to see if that holds. Looking historically, the more valuable list is places where new judges have been hired. You will see many repeat cities on this list because the new judges often transfer out. If someone has that, I tend to think that is the more valuable piece of information to gauge the odds of your GAL cities heading. It certainly worked in terms of helping us predict where we were eventually hired.
