Just received the following in a PM:
"I would like to remain anonymous, but I just accepted an offer for the Creve Couer, Missouri office. Start date is 1/26/15. The call was made by Bob. Please pass this information along."
Congrats and welcome to the Corps!.

I heard about two retirements today in offices in my Region and a transfer to replace one of them. I also got an e-mail about a couple of ALJ's retirement books, one in Fargo.

Congrats to all the offers coming in today! Lets keep the train rolling. It's after 5:00 EST. I'd be surprised if more go out today. But tomorrow is a new day...

I guess I meant lets keep offers coming in tomorrow more than I expected offers to continue tonight.

I counted 5 retirement emails today. Various places. And all those who work in Bob's area are off line now. Till tomorrow everyone! And congrats to all who received the call! What a great way to start the holidays!

What a great way to start the holidays! And, to keep the beacon of hope lit for those of us who have not yet received phone calls... take a look at the geographic distribution of the offers already made. Looks as if nobody's yet been appointed to ODARs west of Missouri or Illinois. Maybe Bob & co. are staffing up based on ODAR time zone, east to west? Tomorrow, Salt Lake City, and Friday, California! ***insert Howard Dean noises***

If folks can keep it together when getting the call, maybe ask if more offers are coming. On the first cert, baglady asked and was told she was the last offer. Thanks! I promise if I get the call I will ask.

Just to be clear, the "Fargo" retirement was not actually in Fargo, but in the satellite office in Sioux Falls, SD. So, that opens up the SD office. I don't know if they advertise openings under the satellite office's location, or the main branch location.

Given the way OPM has been doling out candidates in dribs and drabs and ODAR's critical hiring needs, I think unless someone had a nervous breakdown or openly admitted to blatantly unethical behavior during the interview they are probably going to be deemed good enough. I think those who are ruled out at this stage will be the victim of bad references, poor credit reports, or poorly considered social media habits. Gee - That's gonna make me feel so much better if I don't get an offer! I got to tell you that when I finally backtracked enough to figure out what you and MPG were talking about, I came across your post first without realizing it was the post in question. I busted out LOL in my office, and I was looking for it and still didn't catch the serious tone of it until after laughing. I can vouch for MPG, he's never went tigerlaw (pre-ALJ tigerlaw) on anyone, but I said all that to say this...
Every single person that made the OPM register is highly qualified for this job!!! And if you can figure the "who, what, why and how" of ODAR's hiring process, you are too smart and talented for this job. Even if you have a high opinion of yourself (and I do), you will be humbled beyond your beliefs when you meet your fellow new ALJs in Falls Church. I'm convinced and always will be convinced that I was the dumbest person in those two rooms.

Thank you Tiger for the kind words. I appreciate it. It just goes to show you that people can perceive the written word very differently, then the writer's intent.

Mamaru I didn't mean to make light of what you stated based upon your explanation of what you meant. I took your post to mean something entirely different when I read it. I originally thought you were making light of the comments by others. I apologize for taking it out of context for what you meant. I would never do anything to hurt you or anyone on this Board. I do agree with you that there indeed will be many good people still standing without an offer once all hiring is done. This has always been the case with SSA in its hiring practices. SSA hires who they want to meet their needs. It doesn't mean if you weren't hired by SSA, you were not a good candidate, all it means is that SSA was looking for someone or something else in its hiring than what you offered. No worries, MPD. I just felt that post was a little insulting to those of us who have not been, and those of us who ultimately will not be, selected. While SSA may not be able to be as picky as it has been in the past given the number of hires, the math tells us not everyone is going to end up in a black robe and to suggest that those who do not are on the fringe struck me as unkind. Only time will tell if it is accurate. I agree with you 100% mamaru. Further, considering the experience of some candidates at the SSA interview, some things are beyond our control. All we can do is wait and hope. It behooves everyone to be kind and treat others the way you would like to be treated because whether you acquire a position or not everyone deserves courtesy and comraderie from other board members. There are always those people in a much worse position (healthwise, monetarily, or other ways) than you, so count your blessings and be happy no matter what the outcome in this process. This applies to me and everyone else on this board.

Otherwise, I would have waited, oblivious to when and to whom offers are being extended, calmly eating my breakfast, etc., instead of checking all relevant threads first and last thing each day (and at 5 min intervals through the day). Gotta end this message, 5 min is up... Must hit refresh...

Appx 19 spots are reported as taken. If we are missing 10 offers that have not reported on the city poll AND if it is true the training class will accommodate 40ish, then we still can anticipate at least 10 offers tomorrow. Positive thoughts people!
