Tigerlaw considering Funky pulled one over on you regarding the secret handshake you might be right that being a Forum Legend isn't all it is "cracked up" to be. However, looking on the bright side you have learned how to debone chickens since acquiring your new position.

I realize that it is a shot in the dark, but based on the timeframes for prior "classes," when should one who was interviewed in this class expect to hear from SSA with an offer if he or she were lucky enough to get a golden ticket?

Anytime between now and February 20th. More than likely, starting next week and going on until February 20th.

They have until about Feb 23rd to give 4 weeks notice for the remainder of the March 23rd start date. So offers could start up again anytime between now and Feb 9th or so to give adequate time for the offer/ acceptance lag. Then, there are several additional hires to go through the fiscal year end. As they move through cities, additional people who have not yet interviewed will do so, and it will keep going like this, rolling offers so to speak, until they hit their targeted 250 for fiscal 2015.

I realize that it is a shot in the dark, but based on the timeframes for prior "classes," when should one who was interviewed in this class expect to hear from SSA with an offer if he or she were lucky enough to get a golden ticket? Once you have interviewed, you could hear from SSA anytime between February 2015 and the close of the register. How is that for a time frame? If you have a one city GAL and you got your notification, your interview and do not get selected this February/March, and your city comes up again and again in 2015, then you may be out of luck for sure. It really depends on so many things, including how many cities your name was put on, how many times you were considered and not selected, etc., it is just too soon. Please don't worry. you have a great shot at getting the golden ticket - look at how far you've gotten! There a few hundred folks on the register who haven't even had their cities called for a cert!! No interview, no nothing. Patience is all you require now, my young jedi knight.

Email Vacancy Announcement for what appears to be more than one ALJ position with the Chicago NHC went out today. So, that is the St Louis NHC with multiples, the FC and Baltimore NHCs with singles and now multiples in Chicago NHC. Good luck to all ALJs applying for those positions and may their exodus to the NHCs open some slots for you wannabes in the hearing offices they leave.

Is there any possibility the NHCs will hire off the register?

Is there any possibility the NHCs will hire off the register? I doubt it for now. These are management positions and the current ALJs are solicited for these. Maybe if they do not have enough of a response they may change the strategy. It would require additional training, two weeks.

Oh No! Don't throw me in the brier patch. I believe you meant "briar" patch...unless you actually meant a patch of french cheese.

Earlier this month, NHCs were at the top of the list of least desirable postings. Are they actually unpopular? If so, why? Two extra weeks in FC doesn't seem so bad.

Well this lesson certainly explains the looks I get at the Piggly-Wiggly when I ask if they have any Doritos and some of that fancy French cheese that comes in a spray can.

This is right after you preface your question with, "I'm a Federal Judge and I'll hold you in contempt if you deny me my right to cheese food." With a Capital F and a Capital J. I recommend as your parting comment, "I believe in cheeses. Do you?"
