Thanks for the well-wishes. I was told that decisions after this round of second interviews would probably be made "in the next few weeks." But, given that some people just had their first round interviews, it appears that there will be ongoing second-round interviews periodically. They gave no indication of the city or cities that I was actively under consideration for... and a lot has changed in the past year. Just have to keep taking the advice on this Board to be patient and not let it drive you crazy! Things seem to be moving along. Heard that an acquaintance of mine had his references checked but no further action - surmises that a possible shutdown has put things on pause for a few weeks. Were you the only interviewee or were there multiple panels going, did they take place in FC or DC?

The first interviews take place in Falls Church at the Office of the Chief Immigration Judge (same building as SSA interviews). The second interviews take place in DC at the main Dept of Justice building.

After the long weekend I've come to the realization that my references probably won't be getting checked anytime soon-LOL. Not disappointed nor surprised as my qualifications and experience were a bit at entry-level for this position. Nonetheless, I am interested in hearing what others may think the timeline is for those that have had a second interview. Was there any indication of when the positions may be filled for your selected cities and did you feel the interview was somewhat of a formality before your eventual appointment? Any idea of when the training may be for those appointed and how long has the training been in the past?
At least for me, this information serves two purposes - one, additional intel I can use the next time around and two, gives me an ides of when I may be appearing before a new judge.
Best of luck and congratulations to all of you that have advanced. Looking forward to any information that you can share without violating any CA requirements.

I heard there may be another round of second interviews in November. My SWAG is that there will be a new class of IJ's with start dates in January.

Are the interviews being conducted to fill vacancies in the Southwest, or some other region of the country? This information would be very helpful.

Are you aware of subsequent interviews for the candidate following the second interview or is it sit back and wait for an affirmative answer? In the past, if one isn't chosen have they been notified of the rejection or is it up to the applicant to figure out that after months of zero contact with DOJ following the second interview means that you are probably being passed over (assuming that others were asked to attend training for the IJ position)? BTW, continued wishes of good luck to you.

Any more rumors, WAGs or SWAGs on when the interviewing is over and when a class may begin. More importantly (at least for me), is a new application window going to open after the next round of hiring?

I got a PM from someone who has some inside knowledge of the IJ hiring process and they asked me to pass it along.
They had a first interview relatively recently, at which they were told that more IJ postings are coming "soon" and people who applied last fall should also apply to the new postings as they will be "on a separate track." They took that to mean that they're separately funded, but they could be wrong and it could mean something else entirely.
They have also heard from multiple sources inside EOIR that more second-round interviews are coming in November.
Finally, they know of one IJ offer that was made last week. It is in the NE corridor, for a medium-sized court.

Many new Immigration Judge positions have posted. For those familiar with both SSA and IJ positions, this might be a time to again discuss the differences to determine if some waiting on SSA positions might consider IJ positions.
