But who could envision a potential Judge Gary from Gary?

I wish they would let us know that when selecting offices. Gary would have been in my GAL if offered. Oh well. They should open GAL if they are adding new sites. I agree. Gary would be in my GAL as well. This was the whole paragraph, although I'm not sure it makes the issue of transfer vs. new hire any clearer... 1. The Agency is establishing a four-judge Chicago Loop satellite office to be administratively managed by Orland Park. There was a question as to whether to open transfer opportunities up, considering this to be a new office, or whether those on the transfer list for Chicago should be sent affirmed letters. AALJ takes the position that, given the location in downtown Chicago, those on the transfer list for Chicago should be surveyed first. AALJ will sent Jim Julian our position in this matter. There is also a new satellite office to be established in Gary. We will need to make a decision on that office as well.
in 2010, ODAR opened new offices - we did not get a chance to affirmatively add those new cities - rather, OPM apparently and seemingly included those new cities on your cert. if you chose a city close to the new location, i.e. North Phoenix office was included on your cert if you had Phoenix as a location. If you didn't have Phx, then N. Phx office wouldn't be there etc.
Thanks for the info.

Anyone know anything about Administrative Appeals Judge positions? Is that something to consider for an SSA insider?

Anyone know anything about Administrative Appeals Judge positions? Is that something to consider for an SSA insider? That announcement has closed already, but if you are GS-14 or higher attorney with SSA, it would probably be something to be on the look out for in the future.
