I am so ready for news. Has anyone in the March class confirmed the accuracy of the polls (i.e., the number of people hired and the cities represented)? If so, I missed it -- Well I can't confirm much of anything! Three days on the job and I still don't have computer access. Apparently they can't take my picture for an ID badge because there is some kind of holdup with the fingerprints up in DC. If they find out I am a convicted felon (unbeknownst to me!) then I guess another slot will open up for the next round of hiring! Best wishes to all those still waiting. Patience is still required even after being hired!

Thanks for the update on you, FlaTreeFarm. Much as I covet another vacancy, I'm genuinely pulling for them not uncovering your shady past!

Yeah, government. it all works out. It's just not on the timeline you may think though.

Too funny - I got computer access yesterday but only partially (can't access program to review case files....but at least I started reviewing the training VODs). Although my computer was being switched out when I left yesterday (because of the case review issue) so not sure about today. Haha But three days in I love it. :-) I'm pulling for everyone on the board to get the call!

Seems to me this new single city cert process, coupled with the aggressive multiple class hiring strategy now being employed, makes trying to figure cert drop periods using transfer activity a flawed exercise.
In the past, transfer activity was very telling. They worked the list, then they requested a cert. Simple, to the point and telling.
Now though....there appears no reason to ask for all certs at the same time. I expect, and humbly guess, the way it works is more a rolling process. They note an opening in a city and work the list. Once the list is worked they request a cert for that city, and that city alone. Further, whether or not a certain city is in the "working the transfer list" phase or "requested a cert" pahse or even the "got the cert back" phase would have no real impact on what phase another city is in.
They just work it that way and when they finally have enough certs and openings to justify a round of interviews and a subsequent round of hiring for a full class, thats when they notify people and start the interview/selection process.
All that to say, just because you hear they are just now sending out transfer interest solicitations for one office, doesnt mean they dont already have 20 more offices certs back and are ready to go. If they get that city's cert back in time, it can be part of this round, if not there is another round soon after. So, when i hear "OPM hasnt sent back the certs" what I imagine is happening is SSA doesnt have enough certs back from this rolling process to do a hire that would fill a class....yet. If they get enough certs back, great. If not, they can decide to do a smaller class or they can bump back the planned start/training dates of the class.
Just early morning, prehearing rambling. I know you guys are frustrated but the process is moving and one way or another, sooner or later, you will get an answer.
Good luck everyone.

I was not provided computer access from date of hire until I reported to Falls Church 3 weeks later. Additionally that included no ability to enter data into necessary online personnel sites, obtain a govt photo ID, govt travel card, set up accounts, view VODs, etc. Reason finally provided to us as to "why": SSA could not locate my SSN. I kid you not.

Hey, they brought me in for questioning about that "incident" that occurred sharing a cab to the airport after the interview...but I kept my mouth shut. I swear!

They did know I existed ... so I had/do have computer access using my ID number and Password. But because I do not have a badge - I have been told that effective April 1, if I still do not have a badge, I have to wear a visitors badge at all times and be escorted everywhere in the office by someone who has a badge. Imagine: "Anyone need to use the bathroom??" "Can you accompany me to the supply room so I can get another legal pad?" Wish I had a laptop and VPN access so I could work at home ... wait a minute you need a smart chip on a security badge for that ... I think I'll tell them I'm just going to "Call the HOD for Room Service" ht

Hmmm. It seems that even if ODAR is only on planning on looking at people they have already interviewed, they are running out of time to get updated GAL preferences out and back in time to make offers. Has anyone heard anything about the May class being postponed?

Updated GAL preferences? You mean the list you gave them way back in November 2014 is no good? I think it was discussed on another thread, albeit briefly, but you already made your choices, so if/when they come back with an offer, if it is a city you absolutely cannot live in or move to anymore, you are allowed to decline that city, and hope you get called for another city that you made the list for.
At this point, any Trifectas thinking they might get hired by May should probably forget it. I'm thinking the July class is more realistic at this point if you still need to be interviewed.

Sealaw90 when the last email from SSA went out stating that the old certs were being discarded and all new ones pulled, it was also stated any preferences for ranking to that point would be tossed out as well. Hence, yes all those people who previously interviewed and were not hired would have to send in new rankings for their preferences for any and all new certs again. The old list has expired. Saaao you are correct time is running very short for a May 18, 2015 start date. There is a likelihood the May 18, 2015 class might be a smaller class than the normal double class of 22 ALJs per class.

Every new cert come with an email to check off the cities you still agree to take. So even if you have been interviewed you will still get that city list and have to return it. You can eliminate but not add to the cities on your cert list.

Like MPD says, any cities you had on your cert email list have expired. That does not mean you will not see those same or some of the same cities again, but you will get a new email if there are cities for which you are reachable, maybe with new cities. Every time a cert or group of certs are pulled, and they send us the email with those cities on them, we send back that excel list of cities with and "x" next to it if you agree to go, and you can rank them if desired.
