So I just got this. I believe this closes the certs that were open.
Dear ALJ Candidate,
I regret to inform you that you were not selected for an Administrative Law Judge position with the Social Security Administration (SSA) during our latest round of hiring. Thank you for your patience during this process and for your interest in working for SSA.
Sincerely,
Bob Gehlken
Human Resources Specialist
Social Security Administration

I got it too. So does this mean I'm out forever.? I don't think so it is very similar to but not exactly the same as the one that was sent after the first round of certs. A link to that thread is below. I would also point out at least 1 person got hired off the first set of certs after receiving this email. aljdiscussion.proboards.com/post/62002/thread

I think and Gaidin's post above seems to point out that all this means is that the cities you were in the running for have been closed on the old cert. Speaking from experience, my city was closed on the first cert. Then about a week or two later, I received notice that the same city was back on the second cert. The funny thing is that it appears that no one has been hired in that city off of either cert. Oh well, we shall see if it shows up on the third (or is it fourth) cert.
I think this means that the new cert is imminent.

And I would like to point out it says "during our latest round of hiring." I do NOT think this means we are out of the next hiring round.

yep, I got mine. at least this means they're (probably) moving on to the next round of certs fairly soon. assuming OPM actually sends them names in a timely fashion this time.

Yes, Gaidin the key to the email are the words...."the latest round of hiring". It is an intent to clear the board of all cities and start over again with a brand new cert. I still think many of the cities will come back as SSA cannot add too many new cities as there will not be enough time to interview a great number of people with a new cert. Hence, those interviewed already for those cities will end up on the new certs without a need to interview (as you already had one done).
By doing this SSA also opens up those cities for more transfers to occur as usually those cities were closed to transfers during an open cert. Hence, things should be happening in the next few days with new certs again.

I can confirm from an unimpeachable source that this only pertains to the previous certs and does not preclude anyone from getting on future certs.

I have also joined the ranks of the most recent losers in the ALJ selection sweepstakes.

I got one too. I was only on one cert for a city in which they did not hire, so Gaidin's source remains unimpeached.

On the surface, the email just tells many of us (I got one) what we had already figured. I was worried that I should be reading more than that between the lines. Now I won't.

Thanks for getting this thread up so quickly, Gaidin, before I began to panic and start believing the worst. I, too, recieved the "Dear John...err...ALJ Candidate," email and it was unsettling to say the least. I feel better for knowing the company that I am in, and am now confident that I am still in the running for consideration in the (hopefully very near) future.

I knew I should have let panic set in and perhaps driven some to despair.

This is why I have made it a practice to check this board BEFORE checking my email. It saves a lot of grief.

Can't "Like" the posts, but I agree, it's just a "this round is over" message. Here's to the fourth round! (I'm beginning to feel like a prize fighter....)
