I received one of these letters a while back, but I was still selected for the upcoming class. I only interviewed once at the beginning of the interviews.
Now I have a nice Letter reserving my room for training in Old Town at the Residence Inn. I even had the pleasure of getting an offer from another company last week and telling THEM "Good luck with your selection." Ha, ha. So hang in there. After a long dry spell when it rains it pours.

I got the notice too and it initially freaked me out. But after reading it about 3 times, I agree with the post(s) above that we were not considered for the "latest round," but there are more rounds to come. That's my positive reading of it.

Looks like I'm in some very good company here! It was a bummer getting that e-mail this morning but from the looks of things it now just seems like another step on a rocky road (which is my favorite flavor of ice cream, by the way).

I got "the email" this morning as well. Pulled out PIV card, went to get another cup of coffee, and am marching onward with the day. Thanks to all for suggesting that panic is not necessary at this time.

I can confirm from an unimpeachable source that this only pertains to the previous certs and does not preclude anyone from getting on future certs. I think this closes out the worry folks.

I too was a lucky recipient of the email. Quick question, I interviewed in November, so how many "rounds" of hiring have there been? Why do we get this now? I think we are diluting ourselves into thinking okay, I did not get hired in Dec, Jan, or Feb. and got a ding letter in March, but now I might get hired in April? Tough to follow!

I suppose it depends on how you count "rounds." They have hired for 4 starting dates and have started hiring for a fifth. However, the first two starting dates were hired in the same wave and the first candidates hired for the fifth starting date were people they selected who had trouble with the March starting date. I suppose that means 3 rounds of hiring for 4 and a fraction classes. I find it more useful to consider the hiring classes by start dates rather than by round of hiring.

More cert emails will come out. If you get an email that you are on any certs, there is still the possibility of being hired (and that also depends on cities on the certs and your GAL; if you don't have any of the cities that certs were pulled, then there is the following round of certs). There is still the possibility of being hired until this register expires. (There are many posts about this.) Once the Register expires, then I would expect the email will come from OPM, not SSA (like other jobs on USAJOBS) because this is a multi-agency listing.

So it seems that ODAR is hiring 2 classes from each group of certs. And a handful of ALJs who are calendar-challenged. I don't think any delusion is involved.

I got it too. So does this mean I'm out forever.? It does not. It simply confirms that you were not hired off the last round(s) of certs.

This is a good sign because we know they have requested additional city / certificates. Closing out these last certificates simply means we are moving forward once again. It's all good. Allowing the last certificates to close allows those cities to be up for transfers which will in turn open cities up for new hires. Round and round we go! .

Curious that I was on both certs for the same 1 city (very limited GAL) but only received the email this time around. So I really have no idea what "this round" of hiring actually means. Just glad that this clearly signals a new cert, although not optimistic that any of my cities come up

I also received the email. Immediately checked the forum for comfort! Personally, I believe that this is purely housekeeping. All the separate city certs and multiple hirings left the candidate pool in a disarray. Closing out the previous certs and requesting new certs will clean up the candidate pool for SSA.

Take heart amigos.
I received such a letter in August 2014 and yet was hired from that same Cert. Tinker is right. In addition, such a letter only applies to the Cert in question, and there are many more to come.

So, wait - should I be worried if I DON'T have one? Now I wonder if they have my address correct. Did anyone else NOT get one? Or does that simply imply that I have on my GAL a city that they know is on the upcoming cert so there is no reason to "close me out?"

Well, you could be closed out anyway, even if that city is going to get a new cert in the next round. It's the certs getting closed out, not you. That said, I haven't received one of these every time. And, this one was in my spam.

Or does that simply imply that I have on my GAL a city that they know is on the upcoming cert so there is no reason to "close me out?" Since so many people got the email we have been assuming that meant they were closing out all the certs before starting up again, but that is not necessarily true. If they plan to have a city on the next set of certs that was on this last set of certs, they could conceivably just leave that city's cert open, in which case, if that's your only city (and possibly even if it's just one of your many cities), no email. On the other hand, they could close the pending cert, work the transfer list, and then get a new cert for that city. They did this at least some of the time between the first and second certs, since cubbietax said in a post earlier today: "Speaking from experience, my city was closed on the first cert. Then about a week or two later, I received notice that the same city was back on the second cert." If that happens someone with that as their only city should get an email. It's impossible for us to say what happened in your case. For peace of mind, you might want to send Bob or Mellinda an email with your question if you don't get an email in the next day or two.
