I received an offer today for an ALJ position in DC that I accepted. I am extraordinarily grateful and very excited. One question I have is how will my rate of pay be calculated. I am retired military, which I understand does not count for anything. and I have 13 months of federal senior exec service, which may entitle me to some credit. Anyone know how OPM determines where you start? Also, is there anything I should be doing that I'm not?

G, are you calling batdog a hotdog? (I'm guessing auto-correct got you again!)

Congrats Batdog. Like they all said, OPM website. DC is a great location. Tough to get without a transfer. Good luck and enjoy being an ALJ. It can be rewarding!

Hope you aren't planning on working with Jada Pinkett-Smith...

New poll on which agency!
Seriously, my vote is he landed a position with DOL. A 10 point SES candidate would most likely entice an agency that normally doesn't hire off the register.

DOL is a good guess. I heard they're scheduling interviews with the Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Newport News offices.

I'm guessing DOL too but HHS, NLRB and even FMSHRC come to mind as well. Indeed there are at least ten agencies that could have hired this gentleman.
Congrats Bat dog.
