Can somebody please post or PM someone the list of cities hired for and the total number for each city. I don't want anybody's name or anything identifiable but I would like to check the reliability of our polling.
Thanks,
G

They'll have all the names in an excel spreadsheet sometime soon. Of course, they'll have to have computer access to see said spreadsheet...

I'm picking Toledo, Baltimore, Indianapolis, and Los Angeles in my Final Four. Baltimore winning over Los Angeles in the Championship. March Madness group, baby!

The one thing this list tells me Gaidin is our polls are missing a lot of people who either choose not to participate or are not members of the Board. Hence, I am not so sure future polls will be any better at catching who accepted an offer and who did not.

I thought the same thing when I heard forty people last night BUT as anotherfed reminded me there were two sets of hiring polls. We caught 20 in the second set but we caught 19 in the first set and so we actually caught about 95% of the class. I have not compared city to city to see how much FFV we got but our numbers are solid.

Any information is good information. (I'll take what I can get. I'll take what I can get.)
Unless someone intentionally posts inaccurate information to mislead us. I think such is not happening.
I am not betting my head on the information I see here. But, when I read things on the discussion board, such as the offices for which the last alj class was hired, I do get a feel for what is happening.
Thanks for the information about the class.

I am not getting into a disagreement with anotherfed and you (Gaidin), but there was overlap between the two polls. I know we did not catch a lot of the cities that were filled as being filled. However, even half information is better than no information I guess.

Because four March offers deferred to the May class?

The FC training room, when divided in two as it predominantly is in training, will only accommodate 22 students plus instructors per side. They might could squeeze in one or two more but it would be crowded based on the set up when I was there.
That's why 44.

Thanks funk, but wouldn't that imply that 4 more offers could have gone out to "fill the classroom?" Just curious what others think was the reason. Time? What hopefalj said. I think they planned for a full March class without a backup plan for filling it out if an offeree opted to start in May.

I agree with Gary. I think they had X number of hires planned out and didn't have enough time reconvene the hiring committee.

Or after hiring the planned 44 for the 44 slots they certed, regardless of March or May start, they knew they wouldn't have time to find four more and get certs for them.

Consistent with what Funky and Gaidin said, the first person I found reporting a May 18 start date on the Board (i.e., cinderblock), made the request for a later start date on February 10. That date was less than 6 weeks from the March 23 start date. With the 4 weeks minimum notice they have been giving hirees before their start dates, little time would have been left for new certs or even just Hiring Committee deliberations to add more hires for March.

Here's an idea -- have a list of alternates, in in case someone needs a later start date. If the alternates don't get tapped, they become the first ones in the next class.

I agree with Gary. I think they had X number of hires planned out and didn't have enough time reconvene the hiring committee. I agree. I think the committee had a targeted number of spots planned for specific set of cities based on current need, and they filled all those vacancies. Just because someone accepts city X in May rather than March doesn't create another opening in city X. That office could very well be full with the May addition. I also don't think they're interested in planning two certs ahead to have possible alternates (both cities and candidates) lined up, particularly with the transfer list creating a moving target for the PTB. They have to offer transfers before they can request a cert.
